I need to let a lager that is two weeks behind another batch catch up before lagering both. Anybody see a problem holding in secondary until second beer is ready to lager? Thanks KD

No, not really. I have tried many configurations including no screen. This is the most frustrating part of my brewing sessions. No screen works ok if you use hop bags, but I have had problems with that configuration too. Hop bags, whirlpool and drain through dip tube with diverter has worked...

John Blcihmann advises against using hte FB in the kettle. Sabco users use them all the time, but the construction is different. The boil screen will clog very easily if you use a pump on it. Your external recirculation device sounds good, but the boil screen is not great in any case.

Intersting. Since I am converting in the decoction kettle anyway, I wouldn't think there would be a difference.

Say, I was thinking about this. I uderstand that normally the later decoctions are pulled thinner, but what is the downside of pulling a thick decoction for mash-out if I am only doing one? Thanks KD

Yes, I'm quire certian it was debris between thte impeller and shaft. The pumps are great tools and run beautifully. I probably ran it dry for a bit at some point, and compromised it's conditon. Nothing earth shattering. thanks for the post.
