That looks pretty cool! Both ideas are creative renditions. Anyone know the threading on bud light bottle lol?

Curing paint on a brewstand/General Paint discussion

I imagine the issue that the person had with chipping or flaking was because a.) they didn't prep the material or b.) didn't sand it to get the paint a surface to bond to. I've never used a high temp paint but have painted a motorcycle and the issue I saw with any flaking was because the surface...

    harvesting pumpkin ale yeast

Has anyone ever had an issue with an off flavor of harvested yeast from a pumpkin ale? I've got wyeast 1056 in the fermenter right now and this will be my first attempt at harvesting. The recipe called for one can of pumpkin and 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and 1/2 tsp cinnamon (I added a tsp of pumpkin...

    1/2" id cfc?

I used my home made cfc for the first time 2 days ago. it is a 20 foot 3/"8 I.D. I brewed a pumpkin ale with 2 oz of pellet hops and 16 oz of pumpkin "paste" and towards the last gallon I had a huge issue with clogging. 1/2" I.D. Would have probably resolved this issue.

Rims tube vs element under the false bottom?

I imagine it is to reduce the risk of scorched wort in the mash tun but I am all ears on this. Curiosity captivates.

    Upgrading co2 regulator

About a year ago I purchased a paintball fitting co2 regulator from Kegconnection.com. Awesome product and well worth the investment. But as time has gone on, I've realized that it is time to get a bigger tank! rather than replacing the fully functioning regulator, I want to just buy the co2 gas...

    Bicycle Mill

Ooooo! You gotta make sure you use Shimano Ultegras on this! I can see this going in to green breweries across America in the next 5 years.

Insulated shelving unit as a fermentation chamber

Typically Metro racks are rated at anywhere from 250-500lbs any any given time like stated, make sure you distribute weight evenly. figure a 5 gallon fermentor weighs 40-45lbs, you should be safe putting 6 or 7 or so on there. It also depends on the clip type. I'm building a ferm chamber out...

    Pump wort without losing liquid

I do second this notion. I spayed my motorcycle a few years back and every 10 minutes or so I would stop and drain the line or else is start shooting water. There are check valves that act as an anti-siphon that I highly recommend. On topic: what if you were to use a 2-stage pump system...

    15 gallon vs. 60 gallon fermenter 75.00 or 121.00

The issue I see with it is that you would have a massive head space at 60 gallons, even if you brewed a 1/2BBL or a full BBL. I may look in to getting a 15 gallon fermenter from them.

Harbor Freight Tools -- What works? and What doesn't?

I've used the HF step drill to drill the side of a keg to make a keggle. I would use it again but don't expect a dream. HF tools are the tools you throw in your trunk and never use (unless you have to). They're cheap enough that you can have a complete socket set and screw driver set and not ask...

My Stirplate... Cheap and Easy Build...

I want to say my magnet is about 1 or 2 mm under the housing so I can get a really good vortex going. It has never thrown on me and I'll have 500+ ml in it and the bar will actually be exposed to air. Now my question: I've created the stir plate and have a Erlenmeyer, how long do I run the...

My Stirplate... Cheap and Easy Build...

Chalk one down for the WIN side! Came out great. I think 12v power supply is a bit much for a 500ml though. May down grade to 9v... or upsuze to 2000ml.

    70's Bling for my eBuild

You need to put bowling alley wood on the floor and a disc ball with some black lights! That is a great looking paint job! Did you airbrush it or use a HVLP sprayer?
