I bought a thirty plate Frankenstein chiller from duda diesel. I ran 1/2" inlet to a 3/8's outlet straight into the fermenter and gravity fed. Took a bit less then 15 minutes to cool a five gallon batch to 58 degrees. Soon there will be keggles a march pump and more awesome involved.

After investigating material sources, I've decided that it will simply be more economical to go the keggle route.

I think most cfc's look the same, I'm wondering how much more effective a 40 plate chiller is then a 25' cfc. I think a plate chiller from keg cowboy and a CDC would cost the same and a plate chiller is way smaller and way more space efficient.

Nope, if anything the splashing would marginally airate your wort which is good prior to fermentation.

Most places like sams or home depot will only have five gallon buckets which are only good for small batches. You'd want at least a gallon and a half headspace for your bucket.
