    Alabama vote.

WOOYEAH! Good work and good luck in the Senate!

Following live tweets of this and it's driving me nuts. Parents will teach their kids to homebrew and let them drink before school? Seriously? I'm pretty sure all of those are against the law to begin with. Legalizing homebrew wouldn't suddenly turn parents into fiends. Plus, you are one...

Wacky Sam Calagione Randall Jr. Commercial

Please don't buy one from DFH. Not that I have anything against them, but they make travel tea infusers and mugs that have steeping baskets/chambers for loose-leaf tea that would work for less than 20 bucks. +1 to the French press as well. You could even go cheaper and buy a stand-alone...

    Infection Scare!

Transferring a batch of Vanilla Porter off of the beans and I saw what I THOUGHT was the beginnings of an infection! Looked white, a little webby, worrisome. After closer inspection, I'm PRETTY sure that it was a combination of Star-San/oil/bean residue that was floating on top. Regardless, I...

should my brew have an odor?

RDWHAHB. Unless it smells like decay, it's probably normal. Fermentation gets pretty funky sometimes. Let it ferment out and see where it stands in a few weeks.

    South Georgia Hops

Awesome! I'm jealous. Living in an apartment, I don't really think I can handle a hop vine climbing up the side of my building... Hope they turn out!

    Films You Watch when Drunk?

I have TWO original NES systems that work! So there, lol. I usually just camp in front of the computer and end up in the weirder parts of youtube.

Tell me about the Un-Fun part of Brewing

Cleaning. Far and away. Yuck. I hate it. So, so much. It's really only because I have a tiny apartment kitchen and stuff always gets spilled/tipped/knocked about trying to maneuver around. The only other thing I can think of is brewing a beer and it not turning out the way you expected...

    Working in a brewery...

Which brewery here in Atlanta, if you don't mind me asking?

Brewing beer without malt AKA Maltless Brewing

Awesome! Although I can't imagine trying something like this myself, it's great to see someone try something both unique (in the beer world) and traditional at the same time. Good luck! Hope it turns out great!

do you brew more or drink more?

I drink more for now. Now that I'm finally getting settled into my new apartment, I figure that will change VERY soon.

    Doritos Flavored Beer

This reminds me of the guy who talked about adding Slim Jims to his beer. I'm don't know if he ever tasted it, but I can't imagine it being very good. But hey, if you want to put chips in your beer, go for it. Not my cup of tea, but as long as YOU enjoy it...

    English Mild

Eep, that's a lot of sugar. I'm not surprised it was thin and boring. It's always a shame to see kits like that.

    English Mild

Milds (and ordinary bitters) are probably some of my favorite "chill out" beers. There is something awesome about grabbing a refreshing and low-alcohol brew out of the fridge and being able to drink all night with no repercussions. A Mild is definitely on my "to-brew" list.

    My Goodwill score.

Interestingly enough, the misses brought home a Left Hand pint glass from the thrift store the other day. Awesome stuff!

    Pre-built e-brew rigs?

Thanks for the ideas, fellas. I think you have the right idea in going small (heat stick, etc.) and then building up. I honestly hadn't thought of that at all until you brought it up. Are there any dangers/restrictions I should know about if I decide to go that route? I really don't want to...

    Pre-built e-brew rigs?

Do these things actually exist? The apartment I live in is, like many others, has strict rules on propane burners, so I can't just throw a kettle outside and do work. On the other hand, I can't do full boils on my stovetop. There just is not enough juice. If they don't or are prohibitively...

    First Brew of 2012!

Man, I feel like such a slacker. Just finished my first batch this year, a take on Jamil's brown porter with vanilla added. Moving and brewing do not go together. Glad to finally have everything set up so I can get back to brewing on the regular! Woohoo!

New Product! Cool Brewing Fermentation Cooler

That looks awesome! Living in an apartment makes finding space for fermentation an issue sometimes. This takes up little to no extra space from the looks of it. Keep me informed!
