    High temp yeast help

So I'm in a bit of a situation. I need ideas as to what yeast i can use to ferment at higher than normal temps. I have a freezer with temp controller but it's being used to lager at the moment. I'm in Florida where the ambient temp in my garage can drop to the late 50's late at night but...

    first time brewer...

I say go with your gut, brew whatever style you like and go from there. From my experience which is about a year, just make sure you sanitize properly and pay attention to fermentation temps to get a decent result. you can build on your processes as you go on so just relax and enjoy!

    I love heineken, and what?

Here's the recipe for anyone that's interested 4oz Carahell 10L (steeped) 6lb Golden Light DME 4HBU Northern Brewer (60) 8HBU Hersbucker (60) .25oz Hersbucker (whirlpool) Wyeast 2042 Danish Lager I'll be honest, i'm not 100% sure that was my hop schedule. I'm at work and don't have my copy...

    I love heineken, and what?

I'll have to give Trummer pils a try. I must say that there wasn't nearly as much Heiniken bashing in this tread as i though. CHEERS

    I love heineken, and what?

Pretty much. I want to compare my "home skunked" clone to the commercial skunked variety. I'll also compare some of the clone from the keg with a Heineken keg can.

    I love heineken, and what?

I agree to an extent, they are not too big on flavor but they make great session beers especially football Sunday. The clone is only water, malt, yeast and hops. I hope it tastes better than the real thing. I plan to keg it for the most part but will experiment with bottling a few in green...

    I love heineken, and what?

So i'm sitting in the office bored out of my mind and thought i'd kill some time by creating this post. I brewed my first Lager 9 days ago and very excited to see how it turns out. Yes, it's a Heineken clone (from clone brews) and yes i actually like Heineken. Don't get me wrong, i'm an IPA...

    fermentation freezer help

I just got my hands on a 5 cubic ft chest freezer and a johnson controls single stage temp controller. I plan on fermenting my first lager using this rig in a few days and thought i'd figure out how to get the temp controller to work before brew day. So i read the instructions and figured...

    Off Flavor

That might be it, I did ferment at room temp (72 F)

Also, I use Star SAn on everything for a few minutes. Storage temps are at my room temp which on average is 72 (Florida).

YES!!! BAND AID!!! Man you hit it dead one. I shouldof thought of that. So where does this bandaid flavor come from?

    Off Flavor

Brewed a Partial Mash IPA consisting of mostly LME\20row\DME with a pound of Cara60. Used WLP001 and lots of hops (cascade, columbus, centennial) throughout the boil and a 10 days dry hop. Bottle carbed and and after 2 weeks in the bottle had great carbonation and WOW it was good. After only...

I cannot Relax, I am worried

After getting through most of Charlie P's Joy of Homebrewing and what my wife calls an obsession with reading forums on HBT I have not learned my lesson. I've been brewing for about 8 months now and still get some anxiety when things don't go as i think they should. The weird part is that aside...

HELP PLEASE!!! Is my beer ruined?

Thank you so much uncle Revvy, your story about the amber ale gives me the hope i was looking for. It's funny because i never noticed how many "is my beer ruined" threads there were here until just now. I will rack my beer today and add 8 ounces of wet citra hops. It's my first time using...

HELP PLEASE!!! Is my beer ruined?

Hello all, I brewed a Pale Ale Monday night (9\5) and left to go out of town on Friday morning (9\9). I got back home late Sunday night (9\11) to find that my A\C had broken while i was gone (not sure when). I do remember the air working friday morning when i left but that's it... no idea when...

    Would this Ghetto HERMS Work?

Your right, that doesn't seem all that difficult. I just wanted to make use of the hotplate i already had but after discovering how cheap the heating element is, totally worth doing it right. I don't have a temp controller in mind, was actually just about to order one from Northern Brewer...

    Would this Ghetto HERMS Work?

Thanks so much, that is very helpful. I was also wondering if i can use something instead of water in the pot to balance the inefficiency of the heat plate.

    Would this Ghetto HERMS Work?

I've been brewing all grain now for a couple months and i LOVE using my coleman xtreme and batch sparge method. I would like to recirculate my mash and thought of this design that would make use of my current setup. My only question is, would this work? Basically the idea is to pump the mash...
