    Really strange fermentation readings

I didn't correct for alcohol with my hydrometer just the refractometer reading.

    Really strange fermentation readings

I know Refractometers are mainly for prefermentation readings but I've got some really strange results when comparing my refractometer readings against my hydrometer. My initial readings were 16 Brix and about 1.062 SG before pitching. 4 Full days into fermentation and things appeared to...

    Yeast Starter Environment

Ok, that's what my suspicion was, I just couldn't remember if yeast preferred dark environments. thanks :)

    Yeast Starter Environment

Do yeast starters need to be kept in the dark like our wort does during fermentation?

    Perlick faucets

I realized I left nothing in there to indicate my joking level, but it does make me mad, cause I feel he dropped those prices just to show he had the lowest prices because of this thread (which is what caused me to just pull the trigger.) and then less than 12 hrs later there is a sale!

Going to try my first starter (need advice)

I don't have a flash to make the starter in, what other common house hold items might i be able to use safely. I was thinking maybe a growler but am unsure.

    Keggle BK + false bottom?

I have a hardtime whirlpooling as my electric element cuts right through the center of the keg disturbing the dynamics of the actual whirl, so i couldn't answer that. It looks like Catt22 does it with no problems, makes me tempted to try but i think my element would make it hard to slide the FB...

    Keggle BK + false bottom?

I have never tried using a FB in boil kettle but have heard from others that it is a nightmare and clogs up to easily since that is the main settle point for trub. I believe Bobby M once posted something that looked like a 3 dimension triangle almost like a teepee tent made from ss mesh screen...

    Keggle BK + false bottom?

I felt that way at first to, now I just factor in a gallon of lost dead space when putting together my recipe so I can achieve a 5 gallon collection.

    Keggle BK + false bottom?

Not sure what you mean by "large" but i find copper and SS scrubbies (about side a closed fist) from my super walmart in the cleaning isle.

    Keggle BK + false bottom?

I've brewed 4 times now on my new fully electric brew system and i pump the wort out from a side pickup tube with a copper scrubbie wedged between the tube and the wall of the keg. This seems to be pretty efficient in straining out the trub. I initially thought it wasn't because i was seeing...

Is it a good idea? Calling all Engineeers and Software guys!

I wouldn't look into the salary to much, i would say that's in range especially with benefits (if they are good) and the talk of helping towards master, those things go along way. I was in your shoes 8 years ago took even lower just to get my foot in the door and some real world experience...

    Distance to Pump

Just make sure what ever fittings you use with your mount position are lower than the lowest liquid draw point form your vessels and gravity should prime the pumps.

Does anybody have this Edition ?!

I've only been a subscriber since 08 but you can purchase it from them for 2.50 which seems pretty decent to me. http://www.byo.com/store?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=50&category_id=9
