    Windsor (UK) brewers

Well it was a great first meeting. Great to meet you @Mumathomebrew and thanks for the hops - will be drying them and using them sometime in the future. http://www.wehomebrew.club/2019/09/26/inaugural-meeting-of-the-windsor-and-eton-homebrew-club-26th-september-2019/

Stupid beginner questions... but I have to ask

I'm by no means any sort of expert but my understanding of your questions would be:- Why is the grain size left so huge for the enzymes that turn starch to sugar? As mentioned it's all about the lautering - the grain husk forms the filter and the bigger the better. They sink faster and are...

Beer smuggling across the US / Canada border. Is it a thing? Is beer cheaper one side compared to the other?

    Windsor (UK) brewers

That’s will take a look and post on there too. I don’t know how much a flight from Canada would cost to come for a free beer...

Bring whatever you want people’s opinions on. I want this to be a club where people learn and share, not just a drinking club We’ll have the head brewer - Paddy - there to give a little talk. He might be able to identify and suggest what to do with the wild hops.

    Windsor (UK) brewers

Well really hope to see you there - even if you can’t make it next wednesday we’ll be running the last Wednesday of every month and the brewery are really helping out. So I think there could be some fun things coming up in the future!

Name That Skyline - Picture Game

I’m worried I’ve made this a little obscure maybe... A hint - on top of the clock tower is a sculpture of Vulcan.

    Hornindal slow fermentation??

I had a slow fermentation with Kviek after pitching at 30C. Was watching the gravity slowly go down on a tilt. I put it down to low O2 levels in the wort as it wasn’t cooked below 30C. Then the deliberate under pitch meant there just weren’t enough cells to get through the sugars very fast.

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

That was the maddest England game I think I’ve ever watched. Fair play to Kosovo they look quite a nifty side.

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

I’ve not listened to the podcast but did read his “How to be a footballer” book and spent a few hours laughing my tits off. It was brilliant.

    Rothaus yeast?

Sorry can’t help you exactly but I had this for the first time this week - stumbled on it in a fantastic pub in Rye, Sussex, UK http://untp.beer/2x4aO From the taste I think it reminded me more of something like WLP800 - Urquell pils rather than the S-189 I like to use.

    Frozen Beer

I recently did exactly the same thing when crash cooling a beer . Defrosted after resetting temperature and then kegged after it had cleared. No problem.

    Dogs

Ah brilliant can’t believe I’ve only just seen this - of course there’s a dog thread. Love em all! This is Ben. He’s a thug who hates dogs himself but is funny as hell.

    Windsor (UK) brewers

If there are any brewers in and around Windsor are in the UK then a brand new homebrew club is starting up next month. WE Homebrew will meet from 7pm, every last Wednesday of the month, starting September 25th 2019. The club is being supported by Windsor & Eton brewery, and will be hosted...

    Inkbird help please

Yep they’re really good and easy to use but I need to refer to the flow chart in the pdf to work out what to change and why. As @mongoose33 says press and hold sett till the display flashes and use the arrow buttons to change each set point.
