Do you consider electric/automated brewing equipment to be cheating?

I would love for there to be a better replacement; it’s too much for me to hope for since the current one was put into place by this same administration.

Do you consider electric/automated brewing equipment to be cheating?

We need to get someone in charge who doesn’t want to destroy it. Too bad that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

The first 90% is easy. The next 5% is hard. The last 5% is near impossible. Tesla is somewhere between 90-95%. Considering how many bad choices it makes, like turning onto train tracks, I’m not sure that it’s only a sensor issue. Like I often say, seatbelts aren’t needed for far over 99% of...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Yeah. Worried they are diving next to me. Thise FSD videos are scary. Those reservations were for a $40k truck that could do 500mi, stainless exoskeleton with amphibious capabilities. What they delivered is only that in looks. With a sub-meter precision body, not millimeter, and fragile cast...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

The waitlist was 2 million people for a few months then it was zero. They’ve had a ton of recalls 8? and also quiet part swaps like motors and batteries. It’s really sad to see something advertised like it was stuck in an inch or two of snow in a video. There’s a great sub called cyber stuck on...

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

Oxidation affects wines too. Add sulfites to prevent it, also if you back sweeten add sorbate. For fun/cheap, I’ve done lemonade wine, triple berry country wine (dragon’s blood) and a fermented cherry limeade. They were all really good. The lemonade wine especially is dangerous on a hot day...

    Cider yeast musings

the meadtools.com site has a amazing yeast nutrient calculator for wine/mead/cider Also D47 is terrible if you don’t have good temp control. It throws off flavors past 70 and will get nasty by 75.

Sure but even the mini kegs cost around $100/gal. A soda keg is about $40 for 5. A 5-15gal sankey keg from a closed/very far brewery is between free to the liquor store deposit. A sankey from a scrap yard is like $10.

How full (Weight) do you fill your Kegs?

Well, if the gas coupler is at the top, then you’ll have almost no headspace, and if it’s at the bottom, you will have the most headspace. I guess if you have it at the low point, you could use a lesser angle. I know it’s different than a Sankey keg, but with those the gas port is also in the...

How full (Weight) do you fill your Kegs?

What the sankey mfgs say is if you don’t measure the exact amount going into the keg, you can tilt it on a 30° and fill until beer comes out the gas port. Can do the same with a soda keg if you cut the gas dip tube. If not just fill it until it comes out the gas port. This way there is some...

failed mash. 12# grain and OG is only 1.034 WTF?

Haha. I either had my mill gap open or I forgot to check the gap and got super low eff once before. Even the same as my old mill it was lower eff so I tightened it up to 0.030 and it’s where I expect.
