    1st Time

Most ciders will turn out dry....which is anywhere from 0.996ish to 1.000. 1.010 would have an ever so slight sweetness to it. I just started a new batch and am gonna attempt to stop it at 1.012ish in order to have a little sweetness and then pasteurize. That way, you don't have to deal...

    Time Frame?

I just started a cider at 1.050 and want to stop it at 1.012ish in order to pasteurize. I used Nottingham Ale yeast. What type of time frame do you think I am looking going from 1.050 to 1.012?

    1st Time

As predicted, the cider did indeed turn out dry. :) Give it some crashing time in order to clear up.

    Bottle Labels

Circular labels run through the printer and put on the cap.

Hydrometer reading - I am losing my mind

As I stated above, that is a reading of about 1.058

Hydrometer reading - I am losing my mind

Neither. You are reading the wrong set of numbers (brix). Turn it a quarter turn counter clockwise. Looks to be about 1.058

First Brew ever! need some help and opinions

No idea on how the beer will taste but in regards to the priming sugar....you want to boil 1-2 cups of water, remove from heat, mix in priming sugar, and let cool to room temp. Then, you add it to your bottling bucket and rack your beer on top of it. Gently mix with a spoon after racking the...

    Carboy rubber stopper sizes

This..... 6 for a fit that if it is wet, you think it might slip through if you push to hard and 6.5 for a fit that seems a little too big. So, a 6.25 would be perfect! :D

    Oh crap...

Is it the carboy that you posted in the current "Cider Photo" thread? If so, that's a lot of head space and I am not sure what to do short of the kegging idea.

    Blueberry Cider

Thanks! I will probably let it sit until mid march and that will at least put a couple of months on it prior to bottling.

    Aluminum bottles?

I put some of my ciders/beer that I gift to my brewing buddies into those bottles. That way, I don't get uptight if I don't get my empties back. :D

    Midwest Supplies

I called to amend an order...needed some screw on lids for my 1 gallon jugs. They threw a pack of 10 in for free and didn't amend the total price like I told them to do. Top notch in my book!

    Blueberry Cider

I racked it on a new 16oz batch of blueberries on 1/21. Not sure how long I am gonna let it sit there.

Nothing that can kill you can grow in your beer...

As someone else stated, if I were a Mod I would be concerned that a beginner might take away some false information from this thread.

Nothing that can kill you can grow in your beer...

Revvy gave you links that have nothing to do with someone's girlfriends sisters mother father uncle stating it. I would imagine that is why people keep calling you out. I am also curious about where these 5000 people are that you keep referring to that disagree with science?
