    New Brewer Fermentation Question.

I would let it sit in primary for at least 2 week minimum after that check gravity on a regular basis until gravity stays the same. Not sure what type of secondary you have but I am thinking you might be able to use as a primary for the next brew. Cheers

    Cardamom overload!

Here is another example of my I love this site. Had never thought of using Cardamom in brewing my beers. Canuck137 here is an article I found on using Cardamom in brewing. Hope this helps http://www.brewingspices.com/Brewing_with_cardamom.htm :) Will be adding to my next Belgian Wit. Cheers:mug:

    Chilling wort with ice?

Did some research on yeast strain for Belgian Ales. I have included a link to an article about high temperature yeast. Hope this is helpful in getting your brews to where you want them to end up. http://beerandwinejournal.com/high-temp-yeast/ I will have to add a Belgian Ale to my list of beers...

    Nottingham re-hydrations.

You can always use a yeast calculator to check how much you will need. Here is a link to one from Brewer's Friend http://www.brewersfriend.com/yeast-pitch-rate-and-starter-calculator/ Hope this helps now or in the future. :mug: Cheers

    Chilling wort with ice?

When you add ice to your batch do you boil it then freeze. I have tried that and it work pretty well for helping in dropping the temperature down in a faster way. I boil the water a day or two earlier and put in a covered and sanitize water pitcher in freezer. On brew day I take the pitcher out...

    Bottling Day Fiasco

I have to agree with Unionrdr shopping / upgrades I mean critical replacement parts are needed. :) So while picking up those critical parts might as well get ingredients for the next batch. Hmmm I am going to save that for one of my trips.....:D Cheers

Say I wanna add coconut, vanilla and jasmin favour to a porter. What do I need to do?

I read that the coconut oil will affect head retention in beers. You scrape out the inside to get more flavoring. You put both scrapings and beans in Vodka. :) Batch size was one gallon test. Used one bean in a bout 2 ounces soaked while porter was fermenting. there are several articles and...

Say I wanna add coconut, vanilla and jasmin favour to a porter. What do I need to do?

Just did a Coconut Vanilla Porter toasted coconut flakes in a pan some people use oven or toaster oven. also after toasting put in paper bag to absorb the oil. With the vanilla I split then scraped out vanilla bean, cut into pieces then put all in Vodka let soak for a while. Not sure on the Jasmin.

    The Walking dead

I think that the type of people they will be running into will require the group to take the Rick Grimes mindset. (You are messing with the wrong people) The zombies in the back of the truck had a W etch in their foreheads.

    Speidel Plastic Tanks

Brought a 20 L one back in December and will be buying the 30 L next. Easy cleaning, well built and the over sized air lock is easy to check for CO2 activity. They are built to last..... :mug:

    thermometer question

You should be fine with the temp range for most beers. I also use the temp strips on my buckets and compare both. That way I can either warm up or cool down my buckets depending on what type of beer I have in them. Cheers

    thermometer question

Got a Promo Lab thermometer with my kit but switch to using a large dial clip on thermometer for brewing. Now use the Promo Lab in the room closet that I put my fermenters in to check the temp but I leave it in there all the time now so I know what the temp is when ever I check. Is the temp...

    My first brew day today!

Congrats on the first brew. Now comes the hard part waiting for the finish but as everyone will tell you patience is your best friend in brewing. Use the time waiting to check up and plan on your next few batches, because there will be more brews to do. Speaking from personal experience. :)
