    Best way to add Red

Yea my recipe has lots of Pils, Munich and Vienna with a touch of CaraMunich. I was thinking a maybe 3-4oz of cara-red or melanoidin might give it a slightly more red/amber hue.

    Temp Control for minibrew conical

I have an 8 gallon mini brew. I stuck my IC in the fermeter and used a couple of stoppers to seal up the threaded fittings on the lid, then pumped ice water from a cooler through the coils with a submessible aquarium pump. Work pretty well. Was fairly easy to maintain 55 degrees in my 68...

    Correcting Diacetyl

I brewed a Maibock (wyeast munich lager), and after it had reached 90% I gave it a short d-rest. it has been lagering at 39 for almost 5 weeks. I took a sample today and there is a major diactyl flavor. I think my d-rest may not have been long enough (1 day at 70). I was thinking of raising...

    Foaming sample?

I would have thought it was just some krausen but the sample port on the conical is in the bottom third of the fermenter, well below the top of the beer.

    Foaming sample?

So I brewed a Midwest Alt extract kit on friday, and everything went great. Didnt see any activity in the air lock after 24 hours so I took a sample from the port (Minibrew 8 gal fermeter) and the gravity had dropped from an O.G. of 1.046 to 1.030. Today i decided to check the progress and...

    is this right?

I'm brewing with a conical for the first time. After transfering the wort I let it sit for 45 minutes, dumped what little trub there was and then pitched. Fermentation started within 24 hours and was very active for 4 days. I decided to open the dump valve again (after sanitizing it) and dump...

Hello all, new to the forum. I will be brewing an all extract kit this weekend. I plan on using my new minibrew conical for the first time. The kit instructions call for fermetation temos of 60-65 but my basement is only 72. Is this to high to ferment my brew properly? any ideas on how to...
