Made slants and sterile starters, questions

Pics, 1 is slant, full hardened, pic 2 is starters

Made slants and sterile starters, questions

I did not. The slants are hardened this am, full of bubbles. I’ll attach a pic, and the DME has settled to the bottom of sterile wort tubes. I shook them up as instructed after sterilization. And the bubbles never went away.

Made slants and sterile starters, questions

Hey guys made slants with wort/agar agar, tubes of mineral oil, and tubes of wort. Pressure cooked at 15 PSI for 20 minutes once 15 PSI was reached. My question is the wort has particulates of DME floating and suspended in it. It didnt disolve all the way. Is this an issue? I boiled 1 liter of...

    Wisconsin Black Max stir plate

What size flasks can this handle, and does it come with stir bar? Is this a decent plate? I was looking at the maelstrom but this is half the cost nearly. Let me know, I will order it friday from you if thats ok?

    Conical cooling overshooting

Now down to 64.1 if I could adjust the swing and make it stop about a degree higher I’d be fine my guess but I can’t...

    Conical cooling overshooting

Make that 1.4 finally bottomed out. I don’t like the fact spikes controller (a “re-engineered”) inkbird doesn’t let you change the settings. It’s set to their standards is a 1.4 degree undershoot on temp, IE 66 set point, shoots down to 64.6 going to affect me that bad? What do you recommend I...

    Conical cooling overshooting

Problem is I’m cold crashing in my other fermenter and just starting in the other. It just cooled, and overshot by .7 degrees too cold. Wasn’t as bad as the first time. Which I wasn’t home the first time so idk how long it ran for etc.

Possibly oxidized when adding gelatin mixer ??

poired 1-2 cups of gelatin dissolved in water down through the 1” TC port on top of my Spike CF15 fermenter totally splashing into the beer. Is this going to present a noticeable oxidation issue for me? I didn’t even think to add my hose to funnel and place below beer level! Wasn’t even...

    Conical cooling overshooting

And I have heating blanket and glycol chiller with spikes temp control package. How do I stop the undershooting or coolant temp? Goes 3-4 below my set point and takes forever to come back up. I expect it won’t take nearly as long once it’s actively fermenting but in the mean time?

    Conical cooling overshooting

Copy. I’ll bump it down to 65? Or should I just go to 63? And raise to 65-66 after day three? I want the malty chewy characteristics for this porter. I oxygenated with carbsotne and bottled oxygen, and pitched 800-900 billion cells in an4L starter. Slants and agar agar pressure cooker etc...

    Conical cooling overshooting

I started at 70 for pitch as that was the temp of my starter, and was going to bump down. So maybe set at 65? Ferment there? I’m worried about the cooling cycle overshooting set temp by 3-4 degrees cooler, and the heater not bringing it back up quick enough. Although there is no exothermic...

    Conical cooling overshooting

cold crashing in one, just pitched in the other, both cf15s, on a glycol chiller, res at 25-28, and its overshooting the not bubbling yeast down from 70 to 65.5. Obviously because the glycol reservoir is so cold, but I hear people talk all the time about running multiple fermenters off one...

    Missed Target OG any ideas?

I’m gonna have the outlet tested with my meter when I get home today. I’m not remote, but my building is older. It’s the outlet I run my stove on, I swap cables, and have to use a 25’ chord to reach across living room to my setup. And taking gravity readings in the hydrometer tube when the wort...

    Missed Target OG any ideas?

Let me re phrase, my boil off is never what kal or others with similar systems claim. I enter everything into BeerSmith, and hit my fermenter volumes every time. Sorry for the confusion. Been home sick today. A little out of it. I believe the boil coils are 5500 watts as well. I’ve been using a...

    Missed Target OG any ideas?

That’s my guess. I don’t think my boil was strong enough. All my other brews always hit targets except for boil off. I live at 8k feet and have felt since day one with new system and controller I’m not getting full power. Using the EBC-330, on a 40 amp circuit but my chord is 25’ long. Owner of...

    Missed Target OG any ideas?

I imputed recipe in brewers friends app, and cranked it up to 12 finished gallons. Started with 16 preboil and ended up with just under 12 into fermenter. Exactly my thoughts on the second part. My partner wants to stop it early, and I’m the one saying run it’s course. It’s a tasty beer still...

    Missed Target OG any ideas?

Hey guys, I brew on a 3 20 gallon EHERMS system. Blichmann g2 kettles, blichmann HERMS coil, blichmann boil-coils, full gravity EBC-330 controller, 2 riptide pumps. I ferment in 2 Spike CF15, with glycol cooling and heating blanket setup from Spike. My normal efficiency is around 85-86. Took...
