NB petite orange extract kit, did they mess up?

As a followup to this situation, I did talk to NB about it and explained my concern. They said this years harvest of St Golding produced an unusually low AA and agreed I may need to make adjustments. I made the personal decision to use 1 oz Wiliamette 5% AA at 60 to achieve the desired...

NB petite orange extract kit, did they mess up?

So heres my question, I got the la petite orange extract kit from NB and im planning on brewing, and going over the recipe and such, and then I run into this.... 1 oz Styrian Goldings (Celeia) 60 min But heres the thing...the hops...are 1.4% AA. Even with a full boil piping hot...I...

    First Imperial IPA. Whaddya think?

I'm not the expert, but if you want darkness with minimal flavor change go with Crystal 90L, it will give you a nice frothy head, the slight sweetness will be shrouded by the hops, and you'll get the color you desire. Black malt and special B imparts unique flavors that hops wont hide

    Possible Shocktop/Blue Moon Extract Clone

I know theres a lot of people on here who focus more or less on extract brewing, and have been hunting around for a blue moon clone for a long time. What i've noticed in most of the attempts though, is that the end product is more or less a Hoegaarden twin, and while many will say that it...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here that beersmith reports the extract 5gal conversion recipe seems to be about 10 points lower on OG than the original AG. Thoughts on bumping the specialty grains up a tad and extra light DME up a pound or so?

Beersmith giving me some wild numbers for full boil/late LME addition

Ok, so im doing the AHS stella clone, and it automatically comes with LME (Not typically a fan of working with LME) but anyways, I want to try and max out my performance on this one so i figure i'll do a late addition to avoid malliard reactions and a darker color. Also, i always do full boils...

    What in the heck happened!?

Yeah..what you guys said was my best guess. I can deal with aeration since itll probably be gone before the oxygenation can really take its toll on the beer...but i know its got to be infected to hell and back after resting on the floor of the freezer..so..hopefully i can focus on that keg and...

    What in the heck happened!?

I brewed up 4 different beers, attached them all to the gas lines, threw them in the chest freezer to cool off for a while. I opened the chest this afternoon (checked it yesterday..everything was fine) and my ENTIRE 5 gallons of West Coast Pale was on the floor of my chest freezer, with my...

Belgian Whites & Me - Help...

So, ive had an AHS belgian white kit in the primary for 4 weeks now, and i went to keg it tonight and i usually taste a sample of my beer to get an idea of the flavor profile before i tuck it away...and sure enough there was a residual "icky" sweetness to it. I recognize this flavor because i...

Help please!!! Beer in my regulator....

I dont have an appropriate solution based response, im just more curious in why did you decide to pull the relief valve instead of tuning your regulator down to serving pressure and then bleeding off the excess pressure with the keg pressure release pin. Or turning the regulator gas cutoff...

    Really Bad Ideas...

I guess if you really wanted to punish a friend, you could always just throw some warm water in a fermenter filled with the remains of a primary after racking, and stick it by their furnace exchange vent. Within a week the house would be uninhabitable. I am not advocating this idea, unless...

    Really Bad Ideas...

Heres a tip to anyone who is feeling a hint of laziness when it comes to clean-up. Don't do what I did: So, I had just finished up fermenting a belgian wit in a 6.5 gal garboy, which had been sitting in there for about 4 weeks or so. I went ahead and racked it to a keg. Well, once I...
