Star-san smell like peanuts to anyone else?

Just used it for the first time on my last batch and didn't really have much of a smell to me, though can't say for sure for I didn't put my nose up to it. To me it was just a non-scented soap like smell.

    I can't stop!

Bah can't sleep s might as well respond...I should have payed attention to the warning on not clicking, but I like shiny objects and links that shouldn't be clicked, and well ai clicked it; sure didn't help me to want to stop...which is fine with me. Though I'm not growing a 20 pound fermented...

    I can't stop!

Having just joined this board recently, and just started brewing in June, I have come to realize I should have listened to your warnings...this brewing stuff is addicting. Mind you I don't mind, for I love beer, but jeez I didn't think I'd be this into it. My first batch, an Irish red ale...

    greedy with you beer?

Exactly, if a coworker is demanding five bottles, why give them the good stuff? Let them suffer a bit for being a numbnuts.

    greedy with you beer?

Having just finished my first batch ever, which turned out well I might add, I have been planning to give some out to some co-workers and friends...mainly because they thought there was no way I could make beer at home and was crazy to try. One co-worker insisted that they get at least 5...

What do you do for a living?

My official title is "Experienced meat clerk"...so yeah, I'm the disgruntled person behind the meat counter at your grocery store, answering questions such as "Would baking this chicken breast at 500 for 45 minutes be a good idea?"

    My first brew progress

I'm just starting out myself, but what I gathered from these wise beer sages is that even if the directions say two weeks, leave it in longer. The longer it is in the bucket the cleanup cycle is a bit better. On my first batch I am doing now doing 3 in the primary, bottling and waiting at least...

    By golly, I did it...maybe

@SpaceportBP I decided to try an Irish red ale, never really had a good example of one before, it is something different, so I figured why not. Just woke up, checked on it, and the bubbles have starting...so looks like all is well, the yeast is alive and doing its thing.

    By golly, I did it...maybe

Actually the waiting isn't the issue for me, with a 40 hour work week plus the world cup, the wait is a cakewalk, the finished product however; now that is the issue. Seeing how it turns out is the part that makes me nervous...but can't hurry it so might as well enjoy it. Edit: Sorry if this...

    By golly, I did it...maybe

Thanks guys, do appreciate it. Just the whole waiting process is new to me, but I think this brewing bug bit me, so I can understand the whole addiction thing to this...not that having too much beer is a bad thing. Iron_city, I am already am working on that bottle thing, I think I can subject...

    By golly, I did it...maybe

Well just about an hour ago I finished my first batch of beer, and well...I think I did everything right. Bought a recipe kit from Midwest, followed the directions, tried not to spazz out and worry too much, added the yeast, and closed the fermenter. I guess what I am trying to ask is...well...

    Newbie with brew kettle question

Heya all, sorry to bother all of you but this newbie has a question on brew kettles. I figured I'd get things ready to brew my first batch, seeing as though I have a day off. Everything was fine equipment wise until I found out that all my pots in the house won't fit anything close to a...
