    First ferment in conical

Hi John, Welcome! I have a Blichman and we don't drop the trub, we just make sure the racking arm isn't sitting in it when we keg/bottle. There are definitely some responses on here, just look it up as dumping the trub (sounds so weird doesn't it). Have fun, Tiff

    Keg Faucet Not Working!

Thanks everyone for the quick and very helpful responses! I ran some hot water over it and that did the trick. What a pain in the a**! I'll definitely be looking at the perlick today. Although I do like Jpietraski's advice :) thanks!

    Keg Faucet Not Working!

Hi All, Got home from vacation and our handle seems stuck. It's the first keg we've hooked up in the kegerator so it should be working fine. Before we left we were able to draw samples but now it won't move. The C02 is fine. The handle just won't move. This is the kegerator we're using: Great...

    Fruit in Conical Fermenter

Cool, let me know how it turns out! I forgot to say that we did puree the fruit and left it for about 2 weeks. We used to add the fruit in primary when we used Mr. Beer but not sure about the conical. We'll play around with it :)

    Fruit in Conical Fermenter

Hmmm...no responses?!? Well we went with the Mr. Beer method. Added around 14 ounces for about a gallon and a half. We couldn't find the canned fruits so went with frozen. The cranberry was really, really tart! The cranberries weren't sweet. It wasn't awful but we will probably add fruit at a...

    Fruit in Conical Fermenter

Hi, I was thinking of adding some raspberries or other fruit to a 10 gallon batch of American Wheat I have in our conical (just brewed last night). I know the wheat doesn’t usually go to secondary so I was hoping for some advice. A few questions: 1. Should we drop the trub after primary...

    Creating Wort in 2 Kettles

Great, I figured it would be okay but wanted to check. Thanks so much for the quick reply!

    Creating Wort in 2 Kettles

Hi. Is it safe to create a 10 gallon batch in 2 separate brew kettles (both going into the same fermenter)? We were thinking of staggering the start time by 20 minutes so the first 5 gallons would go into the fermenter and 20 minutes later the 2nd batch would be mixed in. They are the same...

    Conical Fermenter Trub Dump

Best wedding gift EVER! Still plan on using the carboy but the advantages of the conical so far are pretty awesome. We wanted to do a test batch of 5 gallons before doing the 10.

    Conical Fermenter Trub Dump

Ok, I feel better now. Thanks for the quick reply. We'll just drop the trub after primary is done. Thanks!

    Conical Fermenter Trub Dump

Hi. Just did my first 5 gallon batch with a 14.5 gallon concial and didn't dump the trub before pitching the yeast...yikes! Any remedy for this or is the beer in trouble? Just started the brew last night. Thanks!
