My husband and I want to expand into all-grain brewing. Our local brew shop guy said it's probably a good idea to take the class they offer, which is $20 a person. I think they are very knowledgeable, and could be fun, but is it worth it to spend $40, or is it simple enough to learn the method...
I have two questions!
1. What's the best thermometer to have in a kegerator? I have a Kegco brand, and I was thinking to mount one inside. Is a regular fridge thermometer good or is there something better for a kegerator? Any particular brands/models? Currently the only thing I have is the...
Hope ya'll can help me understand why my faucets keep breaking...
The tower with 3 faucets was purchased with the kegerator as a package deal from beveragefactory.com almost a year ago. I didn't know much about faucet-ology and didn't think to upgrade to Perlick faucets, or stainless steel...
b-boy--
Is this something you'd normally do for bottling instead of throwing in some straight corn sugar, or is there a specific reason you're suggesting this for my situation?
In any case...I'll look into it, thanks!
Haven't force carbed the keg-- it's just sitting there with a blanket of CO2 on top.
I have a counter pressure filler that I haven't used yet, but I don't want to tap the beer if I can naturally carbonate it. Just seems like a pain; I don't need to drink these beers right away. Plus, doesn't it...
So...I have two kegs waiting to be tapped, but the thing is, I really don't want to tap them. I want to bottle them instead. Already went through two very similar beers on tap and I'm sick of sweet and malty! I want to put them in bottles like the old days and save my taps for stuff I can...
Thanks guys!
So my brew shop guy lied to me...I asked if I should be using a stopper or an airlock and he said a stopper is ideal because you don't want oxygen getting in at that point.
Luckily I was using a plastic Better Bottle so there was no explosion! Would it be better to just put it in...
I'm brewing an IPA and this is the first time I've racked to a secondary. It seemed like the fermentation was complete when I moved it over to a 5gal carboy, threw in some hops and put on a closed stopper (no airlock). I stuck it in the garage and went away for the weekend. When I came back, the...
I have 6... :) 3 tap kegerator, 3 back ups. But 2 of the back ups are filled with burnt versions of the two heavy ones we have on tap...That holiday malt-fest and a scotch ale. My husband refuses to toss them (I guess I do too, they weren't cheap...). And half of our beer drinking friends still...
Yeah, maybe I should go half and half with some batches. This one was one of my first on tap and I was all excited and feeling festive, I guess.
I have no patience!
That's what I'm trying to do, but I'm pretty sure I won't want to return to the first keg of beer on tap. It's a 10.4% thick holiday ale. My friends don't exactly chug down several of them...
Plus I want to keg something else soon. :)
I'm sick of the beer I have on tap and want to bottle from a keg, and the guy at my local homebrew store showed me a counterpressure filler he made, which looks easy enough to use but I've heard about beer not lasting very long that way.
So I was wondering...If I removed the keg from the co2...
