Can I use an electric roaster to caramelize honey for a bochet?

I know that a lot of people prefer to use a crockpot for this, but the volume that I can do at a time isn't ideal. But from what I can find the volume of most electric roasters would work, plus the lowest temp setting on the roaster that I'm looking at is actually 20° lower than most crockpots...

Brewing darker beers with corn roasted in a home coffee roaster?

Has anyone heard of brewing darker beers with corn roasted in a home coffee roaster? I've been rereading a book I have on colonial American brewing, and once again read about the use of corn in their brewing process. But this time as I was reading it, I was drinking a porter while reading. And...

I know that this is a bit old but, did you press the persimmon? If so how'd that go, and how'd the drink turn out?

I need advice on pressing pears!!!

I need advice!!! I ran a bushel of pears through my grinder and press setup and it was a bit of a disaster. I have a WhizzBang style grinder made from a kitchen disposal and a farm duty motor to replace the disposal's weak motor. And for the press I use a modified harbor freight h-frame press...

If I put 5 gallons in a 5.4 gallon pin cask, is that.4 gallon head space a proplem?

I'm wanting to get started with homemade real ale. All the pins are 5 imperial gallon, which is 5.4 U.S. gallons. Do I need to worry about topping it up the whole way? Or is it ok to let that space empty?

    Lutra kveik nutrient requirements?

I'm thinking about doing a cider using lutra, and I've read that it needs more nutrient then normal yeast. How much nutrient should I use?

Ice perry aka poiré de glace

@DaveC73 Yeah that thought occurred to me too. But if someone made a commercial version than it must not have been an issue🤷‍♂️

Ice perry aka poiré de glace

Has anyone hear ever done an ice perry? After the initial idea and some googling, I found out that it is in fact a thing. You have to Google it by it's French name to find anything. There appears to be at least a couple places in Quebec making it commercially. If nobody has tried making it, has...

    Bochet Pyment? Am I crazy?

Has anyone ever tried a bochet pyment? Do you think that this would work, or do you think that the flavors would clash?

    Gallons of cider made 2022

Before Hans O. Lowe added his, NTBeer corrected the total at 80. So... 80+ Hans O. Lowe's 1=81 gallons Plus I made another gallon of smoked cider, this time smoked with cherry and a gallon of smoked perry so... 81+2=83 gallons

Let The Smoked Cider Experiment Begin!

I've been playing with this idea for a while but hade no smoker to try it with. Then I recently lucked into a fairly inexpensive electric pellet smoker/grill. So for this experiment I used oak pellets, and had the had the grill set to smoke (the lowest setting). The juice was just 6 quarts of...

Anyone here ever used teamaker hops?

I'm only able find them from a few websites, but they sound interesting. They are supposed to have an aroma of black tea and a hint of citrus. Alpha acids are, 0.6-1.8%, beta acids are 5.4-13.2%. If have tried it, what styles do you think it'd be good in?
