Braumeister 20L owners: How to decoct?

I've double decocted on a Braumeister 50 before and it worked great. We brewed a 1st place Czech premium pale. It was my buddy's system, so I'm probably forgetting some details. We did the protease rest in the Braumister. We then paused the recirc and removed the top wing nut and removed the...

    Spunding valve talk

You can get Spundit 2.0 directly from Trong's website: Home - Homebrewer LAB It's usually in stock there, even when it's out of stock on Ebay. Not sure why. In my view, it's worth the money, especially for use in fermentation. The gauge is higher quality than most and the fermonitor is a...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hi @Thorrak. Thanks for your help with this. I see that there are now two v0.14 beta No Spiffs options, but they are both named "WiFi". I'm guessing it's just a naming oversight and that the one at BrewFlasher Web Edition is actually for serial, not WiFi. Do I have that right? In any event...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Yes, that version flashed successfully, but I'm trying to setup a serial controller, not wifi. The v0.14 serial version of the firmware failed also. Is there a serial version that might work with the v4 D1 Mini?

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hey @Thorrak, I'm making a new controller using a Lolin D1 Mini v. 4 and I'm getting failures when trying to flash the controller. See below. I tried using the old firmware, but I'm getting the same error. I tried using choosing Node-MCU and non-node MCU but get the same error. What am I...

    Giga yeast.....

Nice jugs! Good luck, and let us know it goes pitching the A04. Hey, BTW, Jag, what's your experience with fermentation temperature with Conan? I have found that anything much over 62 F and it starts producing clovey phenolics that I don't want in my IPA. If I keep it pegged at 62, it...

    Giga yeast.....

I think WLP095 is a great neipa strain. I've used it and would again. It's a diacetyl producer, so do a thorough diacetyl rest. I'm not sure it's actually Conan because Conan doesn't produce diacetyl like that. But it's easy to brew with and the resulting neipa was fantastic in our case.

    Mixing US-05 and S-04 in a stout?

Mixing an American ale strain with an English one is well known to produce fine results, especially in a stout. In fact More Beer used to sell a custom White Labs stain called "Best of Both Worlds." It was a mix of WLP001 and WLP002. I never brewed with it but people who did really loved it. I...

What Does a Mash Out Do?

Good questions. I don't know the answers -- just have more questions. If condensation reactions do occur in mashout conditions, wouldn't they also continue to occur during the boil? Also, how do we know that raising temp at mashout increases dextrins at all, by any mechanism? If there's good...

What Does a Mash Out Do?

https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/food-science/dextrinization "Dextrinisation Dextrinisation, also known as pyroconversion, refers to two aspects of the structural modification of starch. The first is a partial depolymerisation achieved through hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is the reverse of...

What Does a Mash Out Do?

Are you sure about this? What does dextrinization have to do with proteins?

    Giga yeast.....

Try Imperial A04 Barbarian. Should be a very close if not identical version of Conan. I've used both and can't tell the difference.

    Stuck Fermentation - Lager

The yeast manufacturer states 73-77% attenuation for this strain. You got 75%, right in the middle of the range. I agree with Sammy86, your lager is done fermenting. Lager it and drink! Next time, if you brew the same recipe, try mashing a bit lower and perhaps longer if you want to dry it...
