    Keezer conversion questions

I'd be careful with what you put around the freezer as it has to be able to reject heat in order to work properly. As far as being neat and having only one wire that is very possible. For example, with my controller I tapped into the connections for the existing 120VAC plug to power it. To...

    Need Electric Motor Wiring Help

Do you think the taped up box is the capacitor? It looks like a transformer to me that is powering the light, but I'm not sure. It's hard to tell with it all taped up... The best move may be a new control box though to ensure proper code adherence as well as functionality.

    Need Electric Motor Wiring Help

Without seeing a diagram it's hard, but I'll take another stab at it. The issue is that there are two inputs (P1, P2) to the motor, but three wires (white, red, black) coming out of the control box (not counting grounds). Is that correct akthor? In my pee little brain you should have: -Green...

    Need Electric Motor Wiring Help

Ok. I'm with you. The red must be used to swap polarity to the motor (via the rotation selector switch, I didn't look close enough the first time through). As long as you have a potential going to the motor though I would think it'd spin... Can you post a picture of the backside of the control...

    Need Electric Motor Wiring Help

Just to be clear - you have white, black, red and green out of the motor controller and the motor controller will power on? Your hang up is how to connect those four wires that are coming out of the control box? The green should just be ground - it should go to a grounding lug on the motor if...

    Groupon Half Off Brewing Kit

Just an FYI for anyone who is looking to get a brewing kit, Groupon has a half off a brewing kit from Midwest. The kit is on special for $63 (usually $127). I'm not sure if every city has it, but I know Birmingham, AL does.

    Cherry Coke by Mixing Extracts

Good Morning, I picked up some cola extract yesterday from my LHBS and already have some cherry cola extract. My fiance and I would like to create a cherry coke (ish) cola. Has anyone ever tried mixing extracts? One 4oz bottle makes 4gal of soda, so I was thinking of going 4oz cola, 1oz...

Mashing (but not lautering) in a cooler?

I have begun to get into all grain batches for my brewing. Since I am only just beginning and live in an apartment I've been using a mixture of Deathbrewer's Stove-Top method and Charlie Papazin's bucket lauter tun (it may not be his, but that's where I saw it first). I've done 2 batches and...

    Polyethylene Line Resistance

I've looked and can't find the info I'm looking for. I'm trying to balance my kegerator (in the design stage). I'd like to use polyethylene tubing (like the stuff at Lowes) going from the keg output (at 12psi) to my Perlick Tap Tower (see...

GE 7 cu ft Freezer Power Draw

I know there's a sticker on it, but I'm still in the planning stages so I don't have the freezer yet and I don't want to make a trip to the store just to see the power draw. I'm going to assume that the smaller freezer will not draw more than the larger so the 10A SSR should work...if it...

GE 7 cu ft Freezer Power Draw

Hi all, I've looked high and low here and online for some information on the GE 7 cu ft Freezer's power draw to no avail. I called GE and (surprise, surprise) the woman who answered the phone was no help. She told me that the freezer requires 3000-4500W on start-up (about 40A @120V) which I'm...

    Perlick Tower Questions

I just got one of these on eBay (but a 4 tap model) and also am looking to replace the tubing... I would also like to take the shanks apart to clean then and replace the gaskets. Is that possible without taking the tower apart? (i.e. If I take the inner portion of the shank out, will the back...

    Bottling from a Keg

The beer gun topic seems very useful. I will note it for later. However, I am short of time so it will not work in this instance... I may just be S.O.L. Due to a move in progress I do not have access to my kegerator, so my keg of beer is at room temperature at ~32psi (to get the levels of CO2...

    Bottling from a Keg

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on this so I'm hoping I can get soem help from you guys. I made a Helles for a vacation I'm going on next week as normal (from brewing to kegging - to carbonate) and now I want to bottle it for easy transport. It's at 15psi right now. Does...

    Abita Andygator Clone?

Hey, I'm looking to try for a clone of Abita's Andygator (it's a Helles Doppelbock). I couldn't find anything here or online for a recipe so I was looking for some input from more experienced brewers as I've only been homebrewing for about a year and a half (only 6 months with partial mash)...
