    Brewing With Molasses

After a week, there is still as sweet molasses smell and flavor, though the iron is getting stronger. Hard to get SG because of all the impurities, hovering around 1.04. The Golding Molasses seems to be the way to go, is a First Molasses, long way from Blackstrap. I like molasses so, I call...

    Brewing With Molasses

I found these "Old-Time" molasses recipes in book my mother-in-law gave me, then found the book online - http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Old-Time_Recipes_for_Home_Made_Wines_Cordials_and_Liqueurs MOLASSES BEER One ounce hops, one gallon water. Boil for ten minutes, strain, add one pound...

Drink Beer from Primary - yum

I was thinking, bottling and keg carbonation seem to be additions to brewing process to extend the shelf life of beer. However, I don't have that issue, I have fresh beer anytime I want. Also, I love fresh beer, and I think beer tastes great right out of the primary. Is anyone else...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I’m coming off a two year break from brewing and I have some old ingredients and some old questions like, what does beer made from Fleischmann's Rapid Rise Yeast taste like and how old can old hops be? You know, just the normal homebrew experiments. That’s where the beauty of one gallon...

    Blended SMaSH

Yeah, Im thinking there is a error there. I pretty sure I put on late addition. The beer's nice, and even nicer mixed with the other smashs. BTW: I just received my BYO Mag and it has a artical on Blending Beers.

    Blended SMaSH

Blending the Smoky beer sounds good. I have blended my OVER-smoked beer with a milder dark beer to get balance.

    Blended SMaSH

I have asked myself the same question. I have 5 kegs of beer of various types. Blending beers has been a fun way to mix things up. This not my first time blending: I have a very malty amber lager that could use more hops, I have added a very hoppy beer to it with favorful...

    BWAB-Brew Without a Bag

As I understand it, many of the brewing methods are designed for repeatability/ consistancy in mind. Making the same beer over and over or sharing recipes with friends. I love your method. U will probably never get the same beer twice... But as far as im concerned... WHO cares...

    Blended SMaSH

Not really: I have two seperate beers in kegs. Then I mixed them. First Time 50 /50. Though that does sound great. BTW: the black lager with MO / Columbus ale on top... ROCKS...

    Blended SMaSH

I have been smashing (Single Malt and Single Hops) lately. I have 4 different smashes and each, while good, is missing something. So, I decided to blend them and WOW... the result is not bad! Right now, I'm drining a 2 row / cascade smash blended with a Maris Otter / Colombus smash. Good...

    What are you drinking now?

My first SMaSH, a 2 row, Cascade ale with coopers yeast. Refreshing, Very clean citrus smell and flavor, hardly any malt flavor. Its like a hard citrus drink. Not much of a beer, but fun.
