    Brew day again. :-)

Just an update on this. FG came in at 1.010 for an abv of 8.79% Smelled delicious. Can't wait to try it out. Still trying to get this recipe where I want it but the late addition of dme and lme really helped the color lighten up. :)

    Brew Jacket Immersion pro

The immersion unit I have isn't doing what it's supposed to. I can't get an answer by phone or email from Brew Jacket but I really just want to purchase the unit without all the attendant accessories because I don't need them. Anyone know where I can buy JUST the immersion unit? I've been...

Want to force carbonate rather than using sugar. Recommendations?

What's the advantage to DME over table sugar?

    Strange

Think I found the issue. The bucket cap isn't making a seal. I reconnected. Hopefully I don't need to buy a new bucket

    Strange

I have an elbow that fits in the top of the bucket that is connected to a tube that goes into a growler. I mean, it probably is air leaking somewhere. I'll have to check the lid to make sure it's solid all the way around

    Strange

That makes sense but yes, I know the extra heat means it's fermenting. I mean 14 degrees warmer than the room is what I would consider normal

    Strange

So, I brewed on Sunday and had a pretty high OG - 1.077. So rather than youse an airlock I chose to go with a blowoff tube. I'm honestly not seeing much action from the blowoff tube but the temperature of the fermenter is where I would expect it - about 14 degrees higher than room temp. Just...

Want to force carbonate rather than using sugar. Recommendations?

I've been focused on an IPA my last few brews and generally use 4 oz of regular table sugar for a 5 gallon batch

Want to force carbonate rather than using sugar. Recommendations?

I generally leave the wort in a single fermenter for 2 weeks. Too long? I'm going to look at the link you provided. Although, tbh, the longer I let the bottles sit, the less of that slightly sweet taste I get and, also, I added my LME and DME much later in the boil this time so maybe the...

OG came in at 1.077. Can't wait to try this. See you in a month or so on this one. lol

    Brew day again. :-)

Still working on my IPA. The last batch was actually pretty good but still needs some work. Not "hoppy" enough I guess but the aroma was amazing. Could use to be a little more bitter as well which is why I changed the addition time of most of the extract. Previously I had added the extract at...

Want to force carbonate rather than using sugar. Recommendations?

I really feel like using the sugar is making it a tad sweeter than it otherwise might be. Maybe it's all in my head. My last IPA came out pretty good and I'm still working on the recipe but like I said, it seems like if I were to force carbonate (and maybe kegging then bottling is the answer)...

I have Mr. Beer bottles but I honestly like my glass bottles and i trust them more to not get infected.
