Soooo...how did it go? Have you had a chance to try the modern sahti? How did the traditional come out? Also I may be interested in your extra bakers yeast if you have a few lying around. I would totally compensate you for them.

Thanks for the help guys, that information on the baker's yeast is quite interesting. I will have to take it into consideration before I make my Sahti. I can also see the benefits of a weizen strain. My next objective is going to be to go out and grab "Sahtea" to see how it tastes. I just fear...

The only reason I would take this course would be to become eligible for the 20 week Master Brewer course they offer. It looked like a great hands on experience to really learn all you can about beer.

I am looking to try and create a traditional Sahti (a Finnish beer predominantly with a juniper taste and with little to no hops) and was wondering if anyone knew the drawbacks or benefits of a baker's yeast over a beer yeast. The traditional Sahti is brewed with just your basic baker's yeast...

Perhaps I am posting in the wrong section? I found a few other posts from the past and tried contacting those people, but no luck so far. The most recent of those posts I found was 2009.

This post is way old, but I thought I would ask if you have thought about brewing another Sahti. Did you enjoy your first one at all or was it more of a bust? I am thinking about trying to hybrid this style with some kind of American ale. Thanks for the extra links, they will be very useful.

Has anyone out there taken any of the online courses at Siebel Institute out of Chicago. I was thinking about enrolling for their Concise Course for Brewing Technology, but just curious if I could find some feedback. Cheers
