BIAB bags for small batches, Europe

I don’t know if this goes against community guidelines. But does anyone have any suggestion where I can get BIAB bags for small batches online, preferably in Europe ? I am brewing 9 liter batches (2.5gal) in a 12 liter (3gal) pot. Been very happy about the BIAB brewing, and I have no...

First sour w/ 3278, yeast questions

Hi. I just used this strain for a "lambic". Tasted the wort, and it tasted astringent. Probably because of a too hot mash, husks accidentally slipping into the boil, and an overuse of hops. I take the blame for it. But maybe it will do some magic in the fermenter. However, I am brewing a new...

    repitching Roeselare Blend

Hello. Have been having a flanders red, sitting on yeast for 4 months. Recipe called for three months, but I've been too busy to brew. And I guess an extra month is always a good thing, when fermenting anything belgian. I've read that the Roeselare Blend get's better (or more tart)...

Am I doing it all wrong ?

You need pretty high mashing temperatures to blister your hands by BIAB :) I once tried a hot-pot in Iceland, which was at a (low) mashing temperature. I didn't get any blisters. Only a mild saccharification rest

    Goseface Killah

Is this recipe easy to calculate to All Grain ? I can't get hold of any Wheat DME

European Ale yeast left in car overnight, still good or bad?

Has anyone experienced yeast dying from temperature changes ? I'm sure it messes up the viability of the yeast. But are there many stories about yeast becoming unusable after being left at an dangerous temperature for a short amount of time ? I had some WLP648 Brett. and WLP566 in the checked...

    Infected?

I've seen that floaty stuff when I've been making chocolate or chocolate coffee stouts. I think it comes from the fat/oils in the chocolate.

    Soapy flavor in beer

Did you happen to use Centennial hops ? I've gotten something that I perhaps could describe as "soapy" twice. And both times it has been a recipe that relies on Centennial hops. Maby more like the synthetic lemon flavoring that they use in dish-washing liquid. But the off flavor was minimal...

Am I doing it all wrong ?

Thank you guys! :) Dunk Sparge it is then. Even if it sounds like something Kane would pull off on Stone Cold Steve Austin. One of the things, that I keep reading about BIAB, is that squeezing the bag should be avoided, as it is supposed to extract tannins from the grain hulls. I've...

Am I doing it all wrong ?

Hi. I've only brewed with the bag method, since I moved away from extract brewing. (about one year ago) In the start I used different kinds of fabric. It was very makeshift-and-basic. But then I bought a bag made out of synthetic fibres from Australia. And have been using it ever since...

Racking on yeast cake. Fermentation going nuts!

The whip of your avatar illustrates the shame i feel about messing up the temperature. :( But as damage control: Should i rack it to secondary sooner then I would normally do. or is there anything i can do to save the best of my beer ?

Racking on yeast cake. Fermentation going nuts!

Thank you guys. :) I'm not so worried about the yeast cake pitching. I've tried to brew with washed yeast before, and it turned out fine. But this is my first attempt on racking on the yeast cake. It's more the high pitching temperature and rapid fermentation that I'm worried about. I...

Racking on yeast cake. Fermentation going nuts!

Hi Style : Stout 2.5Gallon OG 1086 I just brewed my first Stout yesterday. I used DME and steeping grains, and a bit of brown sugar. This is my ninth batch, and most of the others have been All-grain BIAB. It had an target OG of 1082, I overshot it and the OG ended up on 1086...

    Schwarzbier fermentation going nuts

Hello And Merry Christmas. I brewed my first lager on the 23. . A Schwarzbier (the Medieval Cloister Recipe from BYO) It's been less than four days, and I just took a gravity sample. The gravity reading says 1.011. And that should be the final gravity. (it's cold, 12degrees celsius, so...
