    General speaking with a five gallon carboy is the head space enough room during primary fermentation...or is it necessary to have a blow off line setup?

    Using fresh malts with a kit?

    slow down...First off, are you trying to do a partial-mash with some two-row malt or specialty grains i.e Chocolate Malts?...Secondly you never boil the Malts or grains in with your wort boil.

    My first beer: Belgian White

    That's interesting....It does seem really clear. I just bottled my first Belgian Wit Wednesday as a matter of fact, and I looked at a bottle today and it seems oddly clear...I did throw some Irish moss in the brew kettle with 15 minutes left. Is that a "no-no" for a Wit?...just curious if anyone...

    I have a question for everyone. What is your opinion on the "sanitize cycle" in the dishwasher?...I conducted a trial run with just bottles in my dishwasher yesterday. When I opened it up and inspected the bottles...they were screamin hot. This leads me to believe that they have to be sanitized...

    I'm pretty confident that my refractometer is accurate. However; I did get 3 days of very active fermentation, which made 1.5 inch Krausen head...WTF is going on?

    So my brew has been in the primary fermentor now for 5 days exactly and I was able to draw a sample out via the bottom spigot...the hydrometer reading was 1.048 and the activity has decreased dramatically. I had a nice 1 inch Krausen head on it for 4 days which has subsided over the last 24 hrs...
