I'm with boydster. You have to have hydrometer! Brewing without one is a huge mistake. Overly sweet beer is a sign of under-fermentation.

I think if you are in a place that good beer is unavailable, Sam Adams is a good way to satisfy the craft beer itch. There beer is pretty good but they try to satisfy too many styles of beer and some are terrible.
