I made a hasty decision and just added 5 campden tabs to my 5gal of cyser. Do I need to take the lid off? Also, do I need to bottle it right now? Help please asap.
I certainly will. I currently have a cyser in primary that had a SG of 1.092 that I'm going to experiment with secondary flavors and fruits. I cracked a bottle of the blueberry last night and the yeast mustve started back up cause it was surprisingly, and delightfully carbonated. I was POSITIVE...
It doesn't necessarily have to be a mead. I could possibly start with a cream ale and go from there, I was just wanting something with a higher ABV as a base. Just tossing around ideas right now though. Thanks for all the input and suggestions.
I'm hoping to come up with an alcoholic clone of Universal Studios Butterbeer recipe. I know that if I nail it that it will take time, but I'm going to get it one day. Theirs has lactose in it though, I do believe and that just isn't gonna work for mead
I'm about to attempt something similar. That flying cauldron is actually a knockoff of Universal Studios version of Harry Potter Butterbeer and that's my initial goal. I'm going to make a 5gal traditional and do different 1gal experimental batches with flavoring in secondary. I picked up butter...
That's actually what I just went and picked up this evening. I actually got butter flavor extract as well as rum flavor extract so I can balance the flavor between the two at I like. I'm thinking possibly a tsp of each in a half gallon to start and see where to go from there.
Im most likely going to try a half gallon experimental batch with butter rum flavored Lifesavers melted down, honey, water, and yeast. Has anyone ever attempted using hard candies? I'm afraid it'll be rocket fuel when it's done but I really want to make a Butterbeer (like from Harry Potter). Any...
I didn't buy enough to really experiment with, considering they were almost $8ea at the local grocery store I found them at. They really didn't have much flavor at all unless you put sugar on them. I may go buy another and do a 1gal batch with them and also 2.5-3lb of honey just to see how it goes.
We picked up a Dragonfruit today to just try it and the thing has a very mild, floral flavor. Anyone have any experience with this fruit in primary or secondary, particularly in cyser or mead?
That's basically what I did. I washed my hands and just scooped pieces out of the middle and crushed them over a glass. I also poured what juice built up in the cavity as I went. They're pretty damn sweet for a watermelon so it didn't surprise me that they were pretty high. I believe I'm going...
YELLOW WATERMELONS from my local produce stand! They're supposed to be sweeter and taste more like honey. Testing alcohol potential of the juice. Highly considering making a mead with them.
UPDATE: 1.030 SG from the juice itself and no additional sugars. Most likely going to do at least a 1gal...
