    Spring pruning

I have a second year centennial hop plant, and it has taken off and put out probably a dozen bull shopts. But the problem is that the plant was left to die back last year and was never cut down, so the shoots are coming from the old branches above the ground. Should I cut all of that down, or...

Reverse Osmosis Seems Slow and Wastes Water- Really Needed for City Water?

Depends on your homebrew taste standards, and on the beer your making, and on what's in your water. I would at least pass it through some charcoal. Or just go buy 10 gallons of RO at Walmart for 3 bucks and add some minerals accordingly

    Riwaka Hops IPA?

I made a riwaka IPA yesterday. I bittered with different hops, but half my flavor hops are riwaka and the other half are nelson sauvin. I will admit that I found the aroma different of the riwaka, but my bro in law sent me home from NZ with 200g of riwaka and 100 of the sauvin so, we shall see...

    Riwaka Hops IPA?

Heyo. Just got back from a trip to New Zealand, and ended up buying 400g of this hop. Its supposed to be pretty uniquely NZ so I I stocked up. They say its like Saaz although I'm not sure. So, anyone have any exp with this hop? I'm wanting to make a pretty big IPA with it, something around 7%...

    Manifold slits

I just finished up a batch last night, came out to about 75ish efficiency. It worked really well though! I'm never using anything else. Oh and I did cut slits in the middle

    Manifold slits

Well if it makes you feel better NickTheGreat, it's not my design or idea haha. but I used 2 45 elbows to get the inlet spout down to the height of the spout of the cooler instead of heating the cpvc and bending it. I personally think that's a bad idea

    Manifold slits

Thanks guys! We used a washer hose last time, and I ganked it up by stirring the mash and friggin out gettin mad from my stuck sparge. I already like this more, and it was cheaper than one washer hose haha!

    Manifold slits

Ok so I just finished up my cpvc manifold, I used a hacksaw and made some really nice thin slits, it looks to me like it made better ones than a dremel or other tools. Anyway, so I made an octagon for my 5 gal igloo, it has 2 cross section tubes and a tee in the middle where the wort is draw...

1st stuck runoff, 1st drain hose

Coincidence? I used a 1/2lb of flaked oats, and I stirred the mash at 40 and 20 minutes, which is new. I ended up putting in my sparge water to thin it out, and the grain bed settled, currently have about 6 1/2ish gallons I'm about to boil. Should I think about a false bottom again? Never had...

Homebrew Store in a dry county

It is white county, and it is and always has been dry, by law, but because of said college. They keep it that way with an iron fist and some convenient contacts. Most dry counties sell a couple liquor liscenses so some restaurants can serve beer or wine

Homebrew Store in a dry county

No guys, dry counties sell a certain amount of liquor liscenses. The restaurants usually buy these(in a normal town) and only a couple of places serve alcohol at their restaurants in the county. When you go to these places you have to sign a membership card to buy the alcohol. But yes, it is a...
