    Measuring Volume into Conical Fermenter

Any good tricks for easily measuring volume into a stainless steel conical fermenter? I'm not inclined to carve marks into it (and I intend to have the lid on anyway), so the only way I can think of is to: measure post-boil volume in the kettle, subtract for cooling volume loss, and subtract...

    Blichmann Brewmometer (Bimetal) Thermometer Calibration

Glad to hear it, thanks for the reply!

    Blichmann Brewmometer (Bimetal) Thermometer Calibration

I was recently calibrating two Brewmometers to a lab grade thermometer around 150ish degrees. Got them all to match. However, when the Brewmometers both settled back down to room temperature, one read four degrees off from the other. Is variation to this degree expected from a Bimetal...

    Removing Corny Keg Pressure Release

Okay, didn't realize the top portion may be welded in. Thanks. I'll spare you the story of what I'm trying to do :)

Mash Profile w/BeerSmith & Blichmann BrewEasy

Thanks swimIan -- still a little confused. With BIAB profile, BeerSmith calculates 7.87 gal needed for 10.75 lbs, which puts me at in your range at 1.36. It gives me a strike temp of 157. It's saying that if I combine 10.75 lbs with all 7.87 gal at 157 deg, I'll achieve my mash temp of 152...

Mash Profile w/BeerSmith & Blichmann BrewEasy

Thanks Oginme, I appreciate the feedback. I think that's probably the way too... I'll just need to play with the settings since I will not have all of the water in the mash tun itself. Thanks!

    Removing Corny Keg Pressure Release

I have a corny keg lid with pull-pin pressure release valve. I unscrewed the pin-spring assembly and removed; now I'm left with the screw-in valve port. Is there an easy way to remove this port itself (e.g. Does it unscrew)? Wanted to ask before I go breaking anything. Thank you.

Mash Profile w/BeerSmith & Blichmann BrewEasy

So after thinking on this, I still torn between Temp Mash & BIAB profiles. BIAB makes the assumption that I'm mashing with the full water volume, which I am, but all of the water is not in the mash tun at the same time. At a minimum, the strike temperature calculation will be incorrect. I...

Mash Profile w/BeerSmith & Blichmann BrewEasy

When selecting the BrewEasy equipment profile in BeerSmith, the mash profile seems to default to Single Infusion. Is this the proper mash profile to use as opposed to the others such as temperature mash, BIAB, etc. ? Thanks!

Trouble upgrading to BeerSmith Mobile 2.2

I think I figured it out. The program itself states: BeerSmith Mobile Version 2.02.007, which I assumed was an earlier version than 2.2. However, it has all of the newly mentioned features, so I think for some reason it's just putting an extant zero in there and this actually is 2.2.

Trouble upgrading to BeerSmith Mobile 2.2

I wondered that too, but I just upgraded to the latest iOS for iPad (same before and after the upgrade)

Trouble upgrading to BeerSmith Mobile 2.2

Hello, Curious if anyone else has had this problem: I currently have BeerSmith Mobile 2.02 (iPad) and have no option in the App Store to upgrade it. When I delete the App and reinstall (despite the App Store listing 2.2 as the latest version), it still reinstalls with 2.02. Any ideas...

    Batch Sparging

Hello All, Hoping someone can clarify something for me. For my 5 gal batches, I use Beer Smith and do batch sparging with my 10 gal cooler. Based on my settings, B.S. calculates two equal spurges (not equal going in, but equal wort coming out). I've never thought much about this, and have...

    Heat Stick Question

One other observation to throw in -- seems like my strike water and sparge water heats up a lot faster with the heat sticks than my old burner... more evidence that I'm not underpowered, but all the more perplexing.

    Heat Stick Question

Thanks again everyone for the input. I brewed last weekend, and was doing some experimenting with the heat sticks today... and noticed something a bit concerning: With two 1500W sticks, the wort will boil. Boil volume for last weekend was 7 gal, and I was experimenting today to calculate my...
