Hello all,
I just wanted to gauge the community's input on this subject. When I began brewing I would always pull samples and then take a hydrometer reading. When I got more into the hobby this past year I was super excited to get a refractometer since I read about how easy it was to take...
Hello all,
Not too long ago I purchased the Brau Supply EBIAB system. I have been really happy with the purchase and have really been improving on my brewing process. One issue I can't seem to fix though is my post boil gravity. My last two brews I have hit my SG dead-on but my post-boil...
Hey all,
I started a yeast starter the week of the 12th. I believe I started the cold crash on the 14th or 15th. Unfortunately my brew schedule hasn't gone as planned so the starter has been cold crashing since then and I plan to brew this Sunday the 2nd. Will I have issues with my starter? Any...
Hello everyone. This weekend I got a chest freezer to use as a fermentation chamber and hooked up an STC-1000 controller to it along with some fermwrap. I made the extremely stupid mistake of forgetting you have to hit the power button to save the fermentation temp at 68 degrees (the beer was...
So have 1 fermentation chamber (like a 7cu ft chest freezer) and two STC-1000 controllers? I'd imagine I could just plug the chest freezer into the cold outlet for the ferment I want at the colder temperature and then only have a heat source for the second controller?
Hello all! I have a problem that requires some advice from the community. This past year I moved to an apartment and switched to BIAB from a 3 vessel system. I also have switched from 5 gallon batches to 2.5 gallon batches with the goal to brew less and brew much more often. It has been great...
From what I've read the light bulbs and heating fans can get extremely hot which many people have concerns about so I think I would prefer a heating mat or FermWrap. I just wasn't sure how people implement them based on my original post.
Hello all! I recently built a fermentation controller featured at this site: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/pimp-my-system/build-temperature-controller/
I am currently in the process of trying to find a solid chest freezer on craigslist as the cooling source and plan to have a 7+...
I was able to rotate the false bottom around so the element doesn't interfere as you noted TexasWine; however, the leg is awfully close to the element. I imagine that during recirculation and any movement in general within the kettle could cause the leg and element to touch. Is this something to...

Yes my bad I forgot to comment on the pumpkin. I plan to roast the pumpkin at 350 degrees F for 45 min and then add the pumpkin to the mash starting with a 10 min 120 degree protein rest and then raise the temp to 154 for my normal mash schedule.
The honey was more to raise the ABV but I...
Hello all!
I am continuing to try to develop my ability to build my own recipes. Below is the second that I have created. I wanted to do a pumpkin ale so I researched a number of different recipes and tried to created my own. Please let me know your thoughts and provide any advice. Thank you.
Looks like according to the tracking number I will be receiving my brew system next Tuesday! I ended up getting the 11 gallon kettle 120V 20a system with 1500W elements. Does anyone happen to have a beersmith profile for this system that they could share?
