There's a fly in my fermenter!!

Not sure how or when it happened. Maybe during the boil? Hopefully not during the cool down or hop stand... but there is a dead fly in my glass fermenter. Ill spend the next three weeks wondering about what sort of effect its going to have on my beer. Any thoughts from those with similar...

    Bread

Has anyone considered or tried drying the grains left over from the mash tun, grinding them, and making bread? Is it possible?

    Cleaning Kegs

thanks all. Typically, i do a full break down. Soak it in PB overnight, then flip it so its upside down in a gallon bucket and soak it another night. I break the valves down too and soak them. then everything soaks in sanitizer for a couple of hours. so, it generally takes me days...

    Cleaning Kegs

I'm wondering if its necessary to clean and sanitize my keg between beers. for instance, i finish the keg... why not just keep it pressurized in the fridge until my next batch is ready? Theoretically, if my last batch didn't spoil, the keg should be in pretty decent shape in terms of bacteria...

    Giving to friends

So I've kegged my first beers, and I love them! How can I share this with people? Can I just fill growlers or mason jars and expect them to hold their fizz for a day or two? How long after filling a growler is the beer still drinkable?

    Suppliers

Bobby, your prices look great. I set up a shopping cart on your website and some of the other on line retailers. You were 20 dollars cheaper! I will definitely give you a shot. Will you mill the grains for me?

    Suppliers

I live in Connecticut and would like to purchase ingredients on line. I prefer supporting my local brew supply guys, but I am currently semi disabled and can't venture out. Are there any on line supply shops in the north east? Or does shipping from cross country not effect freshness and...

    Kegging without the trub

Thanks guys. I usually ferment up high so I don't need to move the carboy. I do however jamb the siphon int the bottom and accept I'm going to pull some trub. I will lower it slower this weekend and see how it goes. Thanks.

    Kegging without the trub

ive clogged the lines with hops on the last couple of beers I've kegged. The issue was easily remedied, but I'd like to avoid it all together in the future. Are there any clever ways to leave the trub behind when siphoning into the keg? A simple filter of sorts? I don't mind floaters in my...

    Stuck Fermentation??

It's interesting. I'm planning on kegging tonight. its been 18 days and fermentation was stuck at 1.022 - even thought there is apparent activity in the airlock - i understand this may be barometric pressure or other expansion / contraction of fluids, although the fermentation container next...

    correct mashing procedure

Thanks Doug. I get it, I confused adding the strike water (the 200 degree add at the end) for sparging. A number of rookie mistakes and lack of understanding, next time will be better.

    correct mashing procedure

Grains: 8 lbs. American two-row malt 5 lbs. German pilsner malt 1 lb. Carapils malt 1 lb. wheat malt .75 lb. honey malt Vessel: A converted 10galon cooler from home depot, with a ball valve and filter screen picked up from local brew supply My process follows this exactly...

    correct mashing procedure

I'm following this recipe.... http://www.eckraus.com/blog/heady-topper-double-ipa-clone-recipe I will say im happy with results thus far... i've attempted it twice. I'm unclear why my original gravity after the boil is 1.058 as opposed to the 1.078. I assume this has to do mash...
