I started a a Mexican Vienna lager 5 days ago. OG was 1.052 and FG estimate is 1.013
I pitched the yeast at 52 degrees. Its been fermenting at steady 52 degrees for 5 days. I just checked my gravity and it was lower than I expected at 1.016. The krausen was as much as a couple inches but...
I have a corny keg that is about 3/4 full and sitting fully carbed at 55 degrees F with 18 PSI. It is disconnected from the CO2 tank.
If I move the keg to a 40 degree refrigerator, the carb chart says I should be at 10 PSI. So do I need to bleed off my keg down to 10 PSI when I move it to the...
I also used Nottingham yeast lot#1087117102 (06-2011) and it worked fine. The ferment started a little slower than some of my other batches but the temp was in the low to mid 60s.
I dry hopped for the first time today with pellets and theres a thick hop layer on top now. So can I expect that this will settle down on the bottom or will it just stay on top. Am I going to have any trouble racking it out of the carboy without getting a bunch of hops in my racking cane...
I uninstalled my copy as suggested and downloaded and installed again. It looks much better this time. All the ingredient lists are there. Thanks for the help!
Hmmm.... Something is wrong then because there is nothing listed in the software for any of the ingredients. Maybe I will post on the Beersmith forum to see if I can get this straightened out..
I downloaded Beersmith and I thought that it would be setup with a standard list of hops, yeast, grains etc.. Everything is blank.. It looks like I have to load all of them individually from scratch? Is that correct? Can someone confirm that for me?
Ive done a couple extract and PM batches and Im getting ready to start doing AG. I drilled a coleman picknic cooler to use as MLT and my copper manifold doesnt sit flat on the bottom of the cooler because center distance of the hole I drilled for the ball valve sits about 1 inch from the bottom...
I also just pitched nottingham lot 1087117102 - exp 06-2011 into a batch of Edworts HPA and seems to be fermenting fine.
I got my nottingham from AHS last week. I read about the issues after I placed my order but I tried it anyway and it seems to be OK. Airlock was active in 15 hours at 64...
I found a sampler 12 pack from Stevens Point Brewery at the local store. It included a lager, pale ale, amber ale, and 2 varieties of wheat beer. I prefered the amber ale and pale ale in that order over the wheats. The lager was good too. I definatley notice the hop flavor and aroma from...
Hi folks,
Ive spent the last 15-20 or so years drinking mostly Budweiser or Miller beer and recently Ive decided to try making some homebrew. After reading this forum for a week or two I am finding that I have not a clue what "good beer" really is. So the dilemma is that Im trying to decide...
