    Bottles

About the time I started home brewing, I had bought some Miller Fortune beer. I liked the beer, and it had bottles that kind of reminded me of Michelob bottles. I bought several 12 packs and drank the beer just to get the bottles (dirty job, but someone had to do it....). My first batch of...

    Stabilizing double dose ?

I guess I'll let it sit for another week, and if no further action, I'll add a small amount of sweetener and see if it starts up again. Then I should know if I need a second dose.

    Stabilizing double dose ?

I recently fermented 5 gal of white grape/peach juice with EC-1118, and got it down to .996 a few weeks ago. I'm looking to make a medium sweet wine, so I put the requisite Kmeta and sorbate in the bottom of a 6 gal bucket and racked onto it. I only have one 5 gal container (the one I was...

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like all my lids have holes drilled for airlocks. Is this where the cotton ball trick comes in? The lid is just sitting on top, (not snapped down) and the cotton ball in the hole to keep bugs out. I like the 5-1/2 gal idea. Also, I think I'll hold back...

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

Unlike Intheswamp, I tapped out after 16 pages. I'm anxious to get started, but still have questions about matching my equipment to the process. I want to make a 5 gal batch using frozen white grape, and bottled white grape/peach juice (that ended up being white grape, apple, pear, and finally...

Grape, pear, apple, peach wine ???

Has anyone tried the flavored syrups like Da Vinci ? They have a peach that could be added after stabilization, plus it contains sulfites too.

Grape, pear, apple, peach wine ???

Maybe we should just start with a clean slate, and work with what I have: 4 gallons of grape, pear, apple, peach juice in unknown mixture, plus 6 cans of frozen white grape juice concentrate. 2- 10 L, and 2 6 gal plastic buckets, and one 5 gal glass carboy. So I need to shoot for a 5 gal...

Grape, pear, apple, peach wine ???

True. But I was aiming for a grape wine with peach flavor, and that's what the product was supposed to be. It seems that grape wines require specific adjuncts and I wanted to not stray too far. So I need to know if the pectic enzymes and yeast nutrients need to be adjusted based on an unknown...

Grape, pear, apple, peach wine ???

That's near impossible to do. The label doesn't say how much of each is in it. other than more grape than pear, etc. It could be 90% grape, 5% pear, 3% apple and 2% peach; or.. 40% grape, 30% pear, 20% apple, and 10% peach. Or thousands of other combos. And most of my equipment is set up...

Grape, pear, apple, peach wine ???

My son and I normally brew beer together, but the wife and daughter like wine better. I wanted to brew a peach flavored wine, like Moscoto, and thought I would try amending a simple recipe like the Welchs frozen grape juice wine. While searching for ingredients, I found that Walmart had white...

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

Their closest store is 700 miles away, so....... no. I just checked Albertsons, so Winco is next.

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

I can find the concord OK. It's the white grape that I wanted to try.

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

Is anyone else having problems sourcing their juice ? I was nosing around the Walmart website (found a great deal on 10 lbs of honey), which has much more than what is available in stores, and it seems all the white grape juice is either a "cocktail" mix, or it has sulfites. They have Welch's...

How to seal new CO2 valve stem

I just replaced the valve stem that connects the CO2 tank with the regulator. What is the best way to seal the threaded connection into the regulator? I have pipe dope and teflon tape. What is recommended ? Thanks

What did I cook this weekend.....

Frito Pie Casserole. Didn't get a picture, but I tried the recipe from "Kevin is Cooking". Four simple ingredients, about 30 minutes, less than $10, and ended up with a 9 by 13 casserole dish of comfort food that four of us consumed in one sitting. (OK, five ingredients: I added a...
