    Grainfather!!

Hey all, I just got an email that the Grainfather Connect is (finally) available in the US! I have already ordered mine. Really looking forward to trying it out - I will post some thoughts after I get to use it in case anyone is interested. I'm hoping it will allow me to brew during a workday...

    Krausen in the air lock?

As an FYI for the next time, you can make a blowoff pretty easily by taking a 3 piece airlock, and attaching some beverage tubing to the airlock, and insert as usual. A little hot water will help it slide on. Then just put the end in some sanitized water.

California Sour Beer and Barrel-Aging Boot Camp in Santa Rosa

Whoa this is really cool! I live in Petaluma, and am going to try hard to figure out a way to make this happen. Thanks for the info!

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

I brewed this about a month ago. I took a gravity reading at 3 weeks and the safale US-05 had brought my FG all the way down to 1.011 from 1.064. I drank the gravity sample and the alcohol gave it a sharp/spicy quality that was too harsh for me. I controlled the fermentation temp at 65* for a...

    Shut up take my money!

I was in a similar situation when I started. I opted to get the Grainfather. There's a huge these here on it with tons of great info... But basically that's a great way to get everything you need to brew all grain. In addition, you're going to need a carboy or some sort of fermentor, some pbw...

Cool Brewing 2.5G and 5G Keg Cooler Presale!!!

I received my 5 gal cooler yesterday. I have yet to see it in action, but I am very impressed with the fit, finish and overall value. I wish I had it earlier this summer, I could have been the life of a couple of parties! I also give two thumbs up to the packaging and instructions...

    Grainfather!!

I tell you man, the ones I poured out already were flat out the most disgusting beer I've ever tasted. They made Milwaulkee's Best taste like Dom Perignon. For the other 5 in question, I'm going to run a taste test with my family on Saturday... And rank them as either dump, keep to give...

    Grainfather!!

I'm going to use RO for the first time tomorrow - and I'm going to add some Calcium Chloride as I'm brewing a German Hefe. I clean with 4 gal of PBW, then 4 gal of clean water. I run both through the CFC and mash arm for 10 min each - this basically gives me enough time to get everything...

    Grainfather!!

Here's something I've learned: I was using the CFC hose to fill my GF and Sparge Heater as it provided a nice hose for me to fill everything. I then started getting a really nasty plastic/vinyl flavor in all of my beers, after 12-15 successful brews with the GF, using campden in all just to be...

    Sparging on the Grainfather

Interesting... Could I get a globe or needle valve that would thread onto the weldless fitting used by the ball valve? Do you happen to have a link? That's a great piece of info... I wish I had known it a bit sooner!

New baby delivery- balancing privacy & hurt feelings

Hahaha this literally made me laugh out loud. My MIL is in town right now and driving my wife and I crazy. We haven't had kids yet, so I can't really comment to the OP, but I'm sure my MIL and her family will somehow manage to put a damper on the day. Congrats on your new baby autobaun!

    Sparging on the Grainfather

So I settled in modifying an electric Grainfather sparge heater. I added a ball valve to control the flow and a thermometer to dial in the temp. I am happy I used the thermometer and the switch on the sparge heater thermostat has about 5° of "float" so it is difficult to dial in without the...

Looking to buy a new brew keddle

Have you looked into the new Anvil line? It looks very intriguing to me. I have no experience with anvil though.
