Lots of excess grain in wort

Did my first biab all grain batch on Saturday. Due to a number of knuklehead maneuvers I ended up spilling approx 1/3rd of my grain bill into the wort after mashing. I went ahead and brewed it up anyway and of course lost a bunch to trub...but hey at least its beer. How will this mistake...

    Bottles In Oven(Sanitizing)

I use Palmers instructions every time and have never had a breakage. That said you can use lower temps and just sanitize, as others have said.

Strong Bitter Captain Hooked on Bitters (Red Hook Clone & Award Winner)

It turned out OK. It was a little bit light, would have liked more body so next time I'll probably go with the full grain amount. Also this is a gigantic beer, so make sure you have a good yeast starter - I rushed because I was going out of town and just poured in the liquid tube, took a very...

    AAUs or oz in recipes?

Hi all, apologies if this is a stupid question but I just want to get it straight as I get further into using recipes over kits. Browsing through the recipes database, I noticed most recipes listing the oz and alpha value for the hops included in the recipe. When using these recipes in my...

Strong Bitter Captain Hooked on Bitters (Red Hook Clone & Award Winner)

Hey All, I'm looking to use this recipe as my first foray into specialty grain steeping using pmoe's substitutions listed on page 3. Well, I brought in the list to my LHBS and the owner got wide eyed at the amount of toasted malt (2.5 lbs) for a 5 gal batch. I ended up going with the following...

Where to Find Kegerator Guard Rails

Thanks guys, these are both great ideas that I hadn't thought of, they definitely are much nicer looking than what is installed on most commercial kegerators.

Where to Find Kegerator Guard Rails

Hi All, Still plugging away on my mini-fridge kegerator build (I'm documenting to show you all when its finished), was wondering if anybody had ideas on where to find guard rails for the top of the fridge. I've thought of ordering it through as a spare part through Haier or Frigidaire or...

    Programming question

I don't think you need to be super artistic here. You could just draw the whole thing in code, Thats probably what I would do, since then you could draw tickmarks VERY accurately... Otherwise, just pop open MSpaint.

    Cutting the plastic inside fridge

Claudius, Thanks so much for posting those pictures, definitely helped me sort through the bending process. Everything is going very well, I'm hoping I'll be able to fix 2 sixtels in here if I do some modification of the sides (VERY SNUG). I'm thinking I may need some extra help with the...

    Actual Sixtel Size

Hi All, I'm just getting into home draft beer, and I'm in the process of sizing my fridge for kegs. Very simple question: What is the actual size of a sixtel? Micromatic's diagram says a 9.25" diameter, while beveragefactory.com's diagram says 9" diameter. I hear some of them have...

    Cutting the plastic inside fridge

The condenser is on the back, so I don't think there should be anything in the sidewalls of the fridge. Has anyone had any luck bending the "freezer" portion itself? Mine is the mini freezer type, so its only about as half as wide as the fridge itself. I'd like to bend it flat so that it...

    Cutting the plastic inside fridge

Luckily, I don't think this mini fridge has any coolant lines in the door itself, nor the sides of the fridge for that matter. The whole fridge appears to be cooled from the freezer unit, with the line to the freezer part visible from inside the fridge. Nevertheless, caution will be taken! :p

    Cutting the plastic inside fridge

Interesting idea. I'd love to hear if someone else has any thoughts on this option, it would definitely save an 1/8th of an inch for the replacement plastic, which might just be what I need to fit the kegs successfully.

    Kegerator Conversion (GE SMR04DASBCS)

Thanks so much for the tutorial, it is definitely going to help on my conversion of a fridge quite similar to yours. My question is in regards to the reattachment of the seal. Mine seems to be attached by being wedged into a groove molded into the existing door panel. Was that the case in...
