Dry hopping gone wrong or ???

agentbud, thank you for the detailed write up and pictures. I will try to rig up something like that. I’ll need a regulator that can handle that sort of thing; does it have a name? I do have a spare regulator, I used to have a freshwater planted fish tank, and I have a high end reg from that...

Dry hopping gone wrong or ???

Thanks for the replies everyone. This is great stuff right here! Can anyone elaborate on how you do this bit re: “cask breather” during cold crashing? I know that as the temp drops and the air in the headspace gets denser and smaller, indeed it sucks air back in via the air lock. How do you...

Dry hopping gone wrong or ???

Sorry I think I mistyped ... it was more than that, either 4 or 6 oz. This recipe called for a second DH but I'll be damned if I can find those (still, even today!). The hop gremlins ran off with them or something. One of my batches that went south was not DH in a bag, and I ended up losing...

Dry hopping gone wrong or ???

No, that is not how I did it. I will try that going forward though, thanks for the tip.

Dry hopping gone wrong or ???

My bad, calcium chloride. I bought it at the LHBS, got the name wrong there. Yes, wet cardboard is not far off. It definitely doesn't taste good. I don't suppose there's any fixing it right? I do transfer into the keg via the out post/dip tube, indeed. The dry hops in this case were in a...

Dry hopping gone wrong or ???

Hey guys, I’m hoping you all might be able to help me here. I’ve been home brewing for a couple of years now. Like a lot of people, I started with an extract kit and have been building up from there. More recently I stepped up to a BIAB set up. I’ve been enjoying the improvements as I’ve...

Yes, this is another thread about selling beer... but on a tiny scale.

I agree w/ the OP's idea - I would love to tread very lightly into the tiny / nano brewery without the enormous price tag of getting into a proper brewery business with the attendant costs. I would support such efforts. I am down with an insurance requirements and one idea for regulating...

Thoughts on a new brew kettle?

So I ended up with the Ss Brewtech 10 gallon. I think it should fit my needs and there was a $40 premium on the extra 5 gallons. Plus I just don't see needing exponentially more volume over the normal course of things ... yes I may be inconvenienced or challenged when I make a batch with a...

Thoughts on a new brew kettle?

Thanks for the comments. I will be sticking with a 10 gallon size wise. I'll mind the boil overs ... Zambezi Special, I am definitely all in on BIAB so I am good without trying a small batch though I understand I could easily do so.

Thoughts on a new brew kettle?

Good call-out, my bad. Yes I've heard people complain that it can scorch *during the mash*, not the boil, right. Thank you for the other comments as well. 15-gallons, for room for a 5 gallon batch?

Thoughts on a new brew kettle?

I am about to make the transition from extract to all-grain, and I want to give BIAB a try before going all-in on a 3-vessel setup. I'm looking for a 10-gallon brew kettle, so I can have plenty of room for a BIAB approach. So without biasing the responses here by mentioning the...

Using a kegerator for fermentation temp control AND kegs

Update ... yeah I bought a chest freezer, and have it hooked up to an Inkbird. I've got a one-gallon batch of cream ale going in there at the moment. In for a penny, in for a pound, am I right?
