    flat beer

They sat at 70 degrees for about a week and a half, which according to the book I've been using (The Complete Joy of Home Brewing) is more than enough time to carbonate. But they require 3-4 weeks you say? I would have gotten back on here sooner to see your replies but I was camping, with...

    flat beer

I used the 5 oz. bag that came with the kit, mixed it with 0.5 liters of water (as instructed by 'The Complete Joy of Home Brewing') and brought it to a boil. I then added it to the bottom of the empty bottling bucket and siphoned the batch into it, and proceeded to bottle.

    flat beer

I have brewed four batches of beer up until now, my problem is that my last two batches (Imperial Mild and Waldo Lake Amber, both from Northern Brewer) have been flat, with almost no carbonation. I don't think I did anything different from the first two batches or made any major mistakes. My...

    blow off tube question

blow off tube and airlock are essentially the same thing. and as far as the other question, they sent the wrong bung and i'm not paying shipping for one little piece of rubber. i'll get it as soon as i order more ingredients and/or equipment.

    blow off tube question

can i use a blow off tube on my secondary if i don't have the proper bung for an airlock on a Better Bottle? also, should i worry about oxidation because of the extra air space in a six gallon BB that i'll be using for my secondary?

    glass carboy or better bottle?

is my six gallon BB ok for secondary? some people have expressed concern for oxidizing of the beer because of so much space at the top.

    glass carboy or better bottle?

I just bought a 6 gallon better bottle and am wondering if i made the right choice between the glass carboy and the better bottle. i know it's all personal preference, but was wondering what other have to say about both of them.

Low O.G. on my second batch

i'll definitely be getting another recipe kit from NB, satisfied with them so far (we'll see what happens with the end result!), but all of the malt in this recipe kit was dry malt, no syrup, so i know that the syrup was not the problem
