    Left unopened Wyeast on counter

First time using Wyeast. Got a smack pack with my brew supplies and left it all in the bag on the counter. 14 hours later, I remembered and had my daughter put it in the fridge. I'm guessing I'm fine since I didn't smack it but just to be sure, am I ok?

    1.025 OG possible?

I'm not discounting my grind was horrible. I could have mashed too high, that's for sure. I was lazy and did not scrape the krausen ring on my brew bucket before I poured the beer on top of the existing yeast cake so no way to know. Reading your response makes me feel better that I...

    1.025 OG possible?

Let me rephrase because I don't think my original post was well written :) If I had zero fermentation going on, the 1.025 could have been static for the four days between brew and when I checked. That's why I was wondering if it was possible to brew something at 1.025. The recipe called for an...

    1.025 OG possible?

Long story short, I tried my first BIAB while grinding my own malts. The recipe called for 12 lbs of grain total. Bad grind combined with not taking any readings and a leaking fermenter is making me worried. I brewed on a Sunday and forgot to check gravity until Thursday. It was at 1.025...

    Compact/Canister Wort Chiller

Thanks ODI3. I'm debating whether to try to make a copper autosiphon out of the end or just suck to create the siphon.

    Compact/Canister Wort Chiller

I got one of these from a local brewer. Never seen or heard of it before. Anyone have any details? I know where wort and water goes in/out but is it essentially just a copper coil and the tube is filled with cold water?

    Vintage Landers Mill?

There's a "vintage" Landers mill local to me for $30. Is this going to be the best bang for the buck in terms of mill?

Need to add flavor in keg

This is my noob ignorance; but why would i need the AJ to ferment if I was adding to the keg?

Need to add flavor in keg

That's kind of what I was going for. My wife wanted a Coors Lite clone. I wanted something better. One teaspoon of triple sec for 12 oz is tasty but a tad too much orange. I'll experiment a little more but this isn't exactly the worst problem to have.

Need to add flavor in keg

I can't bring myself to dump alcohol. When I was a poor college student many years ago, I had to budget my beer/liquor and dumping beer goes against my principles. I've thought about making a BL Clamato Chelada out of it. I have enough bottles I could just bottle it and get the Heff on in the...

Need to add flavor in keg

I brewed an all extract beer for the light beer drinkers around here. 4 lbs of LME, 2 lbs of Rice Syrup, and .5 oz x 2 of hop pellets that i cannot remember (I think Willamette and something??). Its been in the keg for 2.5 weeks now and I just don't like the flavor - or lack of. It goes between...

Plastic + CO2 to glass bottle?

I only have a three tap set up and wifey loves her cider. I am usually hesitant to put a cider on tap because, while I like cider, I don't want to give up a tap. In theory, could I fill 2 or 3 liter soda bottles, use the carbonator cap to carb, than pour into bottles and cap? Would I lose too...

Moving fermenter upstairs without disturbing sediment

Perfect. This was what I was looking for!

Moving fermenter upstairs without disturbing sediment

My primary fermenters are all in my basement. I wanted to move them into my garage to crash, which is upstairs. I have a feeling it'll get shaken up quite a bit. Is it worth it to crash if everything is getting mixed around? Should I just rack into the keg in my basement and skip crashing?

Simple Question about "No Blow off Activity"

So I broke down and decided to check gravity. OG was 1.055. Today, it was 1.022, so there is obviously fermentation. I wonder if pitching the yeast when it was a little too warm caused it to super ferment.
