    Making a braggot

Our club is making a braggot for a club only competition and I'm getting all sorts of different information on how to do it. We have an outstanding mead maker in our club, and his belief, along with a few others, is to blend a pre-made mead with an already fermented beer. (One sight that I read...

Batch didn't ferment all the way out. What to do?

After too long of a break, I am finally able to brew again. I recently brewed a Belgian Chocolate Stout, using the Belgian Abbey yeast, which I have had very good success with in the past, that stopped fermenting at 1.040. I have tried rousing the yeast, pitching a dry yeast on top of the beer...

Where do you fill your CO2 in NW Indiana?

I'm not kegging yet, but a few of the guys in our HB club go to Grant Hagberg, on Main St. in Griffith (just east of Metro recycling). Their prices are supposed to be among the best in the area, and they are very home brewer friendly.

    Chicago Craft Beer Stores

Binny's is, IMO, the best place to look. http://www.binnys.com/ Where are you staying?

    1st time brewing

Welcome to the obsession!! If you're going to secondary (some do, some don't. There is plenty of debate on that issue), keep an eye on your airlock. When the bubbling stops, or slows down significantly, take hydrometer readings. When your reading stays the same for three days, then...

    Upland inconsistencies

All breweries have the occasional bad batch. I sampled a few of Upland's beers (including Infinite Wisdom and the wheat) last weekend at Crown's May Fest, and have had Infinite Wisdom on tap at my local, and didn't notice any off tastes.

    Lager Recipe With Ale yeast

Treat it as you would any other brew. It's just that simple. You don't need to change any techniques. I did an OctoberFest last year as an ale, using a recipe from someone in my HB club, and it came out great. The only thing we did different was the yeast. He lagered it, and I used the Wyeast...

Munster Indian Area Craft Beer Stores

I saw this too late for you, but there are quite a few good stores for craft beer in the area. I know it doesn't help you now...... :mug:

    Illiana MayFest

http://illianamayfest.com/ This is the 3rd annual Mayfest. It is a great time, with a lot of breweries bringing beers that they made specially for this festival. Our home brew club will also be represented (although they won't let us serve OUR beers) and volunteering.

Equally Obnoxious Hockey Trash Talk Thread, eh?

I don't usually complain about officiating...in ANY sport, but there were some real horsecrap calls/non-calls in that series. I never realized that there was such a good acting school in Phoenix, either!
