With that regulator are you just opening it up slightly for 30 seconds and your good or is there a good amount of control with that valve? The valve I had seemed to be on full blast or off which killed a tank.
I've seen people say they have gotten between 2 and 12 batches of wort aerated with one of these. Can anyone chine in with a good regulator what you can get? I bought one of the inexpensive kits and the crappy regulater bleeds out a red bottle in seconds and I'd be lucky if I got one batch. The...
I would put it into Beersmith and select the Style to see where you will be. I'm not sure how to use BS for extracts, but for an all grain it shows the attached (IPA) which is low on alcohol and color. If I use a 75 % conversion factor, which I read in a post, then it would be the second...
I used a new 2L flask for a starter 2 batches ago where I boiled in a pot and transferred the wort into the flask. The stirbar worked great at full power. My next batch I boiled in the flask and then cooled. When I started the stirplate I could barely get the whirlpool going because it kept...
I may be a King but not yet the king of brewing, still working on that one.
I'm trying to keep it simple and all of the automation seems to not only complicate things, but also drives the prices sky high. I like the simple manual controller with an element mounted in the kettle. I was...
This winter so far is great, 60 degrees for Christmas can't be beat. I'm a southern boy at heart so winters killing me up here.
I'm pretty simple, I mash in a 10 Gallon cooler and heat up the sparge water in my brew kettle. I then dump the sparge water in another cooler until I'm ready to...
I've been reading a ton of articles on here about electric brewing and have now gotten more confused than ever. Today I batch sparge 5 gallon batches and have had some great luck, however after last winter of brewing outside in NY I've decided to move it inside but don't want to kill the family...
That sounds promising. I picked up a vacuum sealer recently and was hoping to buy a couple of pounds on sale and reseal it as I use it. I always wondered how old the packaged hops were, sounds like they are older than I expected.
Thank you for the comments.
I see a bunch of places selling 2014 hops at some god bulk prices and was interested, but I wasn't sure how good a 2014 harvest is after all this time has passed. What is the life expectancy of hops from some of the bulk resellers?
I just found a couple of other similar posts. I'll pop it in the fridge and it seems others feel its fine for a while in there.
thank you for a quick response
