I did like 1217 but around that time I actually switched to 2575 as my go to. I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus and looking like it will be late June before I’m brewing again. But I am planning on ordering a fresh packet of each before the end of the quarter.
@Northern_Brewer looking forward to...
My go to last year was WY2575 I was intrigued by this news release but scared away due to early feedback from this thread. I have moved to north Dallas and am wondering if switching to dry will be more economical and viable here. I appreciate @rtstrider stick-to-it-ivness and looking forward to...
Most of my batches are in the 3gl range. While I would like to see a smaller version I’m interested in the 7gl for my session IPA that I want to have on tap regularly. Thanks for posting!
1) I'm 50/50 on recirc. I should be more consistent but I haven't done any side by side tests to see if one is better than other for my beers.
2) I ordered direct from anvil.
Well I've been using store bought distilled and doing very simple SCA profile from there. Doing more to help prevent scaling than worry about taste profiles. "washing machine spigot" so you're collecting your waste water? That's awesome!
This got mentioned a few pages back but are there any good still attachments people are using? I have the 6.5 kit with pump but am considering adding a 10.5 w/o pump to brew up some bigger batches of wash. Also need to start distilling my own water for my espresso machine.
My average batch is a 10p 2.75gl batch. I use the mr malty calculator for my pitching rate, it doesn't account for strain. It recommends 6g based on a year old package date. On the lallemand site they say 10g for the Koln and don't account for packaging. This is a pretty stark difference. I'm...
This sums up my brewing lately. I was a WL guy but switched to wyeast a couple years ago. Being as WL is semi local for me maybe I should give 029 a go.
I've never had an authentic Kolsch. I went to the yeast as I am looking for as little yeast character as possible but able to ferment at a higher temp. The way my temp control is I can hold in the mid 60's and crash to 60 but can't hold colder than that for a primary. So to me for my seasonable...
I've been hunting for a go to kolsch yeast the last couple of months. I had been using WY2575 Kolsch II. But I'm running out of my slurry tubes and so looking for a more readily available strain since the WY is a PC strain. I thought Koln would be it but between this thread and the info on...
Same boat. I have the updated version.
From the very limited reading/YouTube watching I’ve done pot still and condenser is better but I’m only at the mouth of that rabbit hole.
