    got kegs?

Personnally I think you'll pay way to much in shipping if you go the ebay route, been there done that! You can get used kegs from Homebrewusa.com, they have free shipping on order of $50.00 or more, or you can get them where I got my kegs and everything else you'll need to keg from Ebrew.com...

    Removing Hops (Hop Pellets)

Good question, I don't think there is really a wrong way to do it, just a matter of preference. When I brew I use the nylon socks for my hops as well as the grains. This reduces any build-up you might get on the sides of the brew pot, and also reduces the amount of sediment that ends up in your...

    Problem with first brew?

I'm not really familiar with the equipment you're using, but it sounds like the temp. being as low as it is could cause the fermentation process to take a longer. Be patient, hope for the best, and try to bump the temp. up a degree or two when your wife isn't looking :) Good luck! Sean

    Where to fill CO2

You can also get them filled at fire fighting equipment suppliers where they sell and service CO2 fire extinguishers, that's where I get mine filled.

    Cornelius Kegs

psymonkey: You can buy an entire keg system from ebrew.com that has 3 used kegs, the CO2 bottle, the dual guage regulator, the hose setups, new gasket/seals, and instructions for $165.00 (everything you need!) It was the best deal I could find, I bought mine last month, I've been very...

    Keg problem

Good lookin' pint! What happens if you just leave the pressure set at 10psi and pour?

    Keg problem

I just went out to the garage and poured the first glass of beer from my keg. I had no issues with foam pouring at 12 psi. I'm using the setup that was supplied with my keg system that I bought online from ebrew.com. The hose is about 5.5' long, seems to work just fine. The beer seems to have a...

    Keg problem

I was wondering the same thing, I just kegged my first batch on Thursday night, it's been at 12 psi, where I plan to leave it for a couple more days. The way I understand it, once my beer has absorbed (or carbonated) at 12 psi, i can back it down to 3psi or so to serve. Once I do this, the beer...

    5 best american breweries

Yeah thats a real tough one, it would be next to impossible to say who is best, but I'll go ahead and list some of my favorites. 1. Saranac (Upstate NY, love their Pale Ale!) 2. Bells (Michigan) 3. Blue Grass Brewing Co. (BBC, brewed in Kentucky) 4. Goose Island (Chicago, love their...

Having a great time w/ first brew session

Sounds like your off to a great start! How long do you plan to wait to rack it to secondary? I've made the mistake in the past of waiting to long, and the beer actually got a sour taste. In time all that sediment on the bottom can start to spoil, especially if the temp gets above 70ish. If it's...

1st time brew, very watery, HELP!

IMO, you are much better off to just stay away from the kits altogether. If you don't have "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing II" by Charlie Papizan yet, that needs to be your first purchase! In that book he walks you through everything you need to know to brew good beer, as well as great recipes...

    Mourning my Loss

Bobbyc: I used the same yeast a couple of weeks ago for the first time on my IPA, I normally use Munton's which begins fermenting within about 12 hours. My beer was right at 70* when I pitched it. It took a good 36 hours to get rolling. Once it did, it fermented very nicely. I noticed that...

    misadventures in homebrewing

Man...Sorry to hear of your misadventures, what a run around! I hope everything works out for you. I purchased the 3 keg system you mentioned from ebrew last month. I was extremely impressed, for $165 I got the 3 kegs, the aluminum CO2 bottle, the dual gauge regulator, both hose set-ups, and 3...
