    Fat Tire Clone fermentaion question

Hi everyone, I was lazy and didn't check the specific gravity of my wort before fermentation. The fermentation started after a couple days and seemed to be a constant "bubble" for a couple days. I racked it off into a secondary after 10 days and checked the gravity. If was at about...

    Homebrewing stouts

I'm drinking a HB stout from a Coopers extract kit. It's an extract beer but it's still pretty darn good, so I'd say yes you can brew a stout w/o nitrogen. :) JB

How much have you spent on equipment?

I don't feel so bad about my initial investment anymore. I spend way more on the ingredients than I ever did on my equipment (now that I've been doing this a while). I guess I'm saving money because I'm not buying so much beer and wine at the sore ;) JB

    Advice on Cider Recipe

Hey everyone, I'm making my first batch of hard cider. Nothing to exciting, just 4 gallons of "Old Orchard" 100% apple juice from Walmart. (I think it was $3.34 / gallon) I'm going to use a Wyeast Cider yeast. The specific gravity of the juice is about 1.045 which, according to the...

Brewing a 5 gallon batch in a 5 gallon bucket

Hey everyone, Just wondering if any of you have brewed a 5 gallon batch in a 5 gallon bucket? I know you can order the proper 6.5 gallon buckets easily but I was just curious if any of you have done it and if you've just made it a 4.75 gallon batch or if the 1" of head space wasn't any...

Concerns with my plastic fermenter smell.

Hi everyone, I brewed a batch of wine in my coopers primary bucket and I now have a "wine" smell in it. Do you guys have any suggestions for cleaning this out? Bleach and water maybe? Or should this smell not concern me? :rockin: Thanks gang, JB

Move on to partial grain or one more extract kit?

Hey guys and gals, I was planning on doing one last extract kit, I've had just fair results in the past with these. My plan was to not use dextrose but another can of extract and to buy some quality yeast (instead of the yeast included) and see if this improves my results. or...

My newly discovered bottle storage unit...

That is an awesome idea. I know my equipement and finished products been slowly taking over our walk in closet. I wonder if my wife could get rid of some of her clothes? lol

How much have you spent on equipment?

My wife doesn't visit this forum :) , but honestly I've only got a few hundred bucks into this so far, but I'm real basic yet. Got a complete 5 gallon kit, I just bought a glass secondary a few weeks ago. My next purchase is probably going to be a good size pot, probably a set of 32 oz swing...

What's your favorite type of bottle?

Hey everyone, Just wondering what everyone uses for beer bottles? I mainly use my PET bottles that came with my Coopers kit. I have been trying to buy Grolsch 4 packs (not a big fan of the beer though) and build up an inventory of these, I like this style of bottle, seems simple and I don't...
