    Temperature controllers

My next venture is to start experimenting with lagers. As such I plan on purchasing a tempertaure controller. My question is, is there a functional difference between the digital and analog controllers to justify the added expense of the digital models?

    Decoction mashing in ales

I plan on trying my hand at lagers in the near future and have been doing some research to this end. Many people recommend decoction mashing in lagers from what I've seen. My question is, would there be any advantage to doing a decoction mash in ales as well?

    Barley vs. Rye

OK, that's about what I thought. I'll have to have a talk with "my guy". Thanks

    Barley vs. Rye

I recently ordered a recipe in which I requested flaked rye and got flaked barley. Are these the same?

    Fresh hop ipa

I am doing my wet hop recipe for the first time this week(hopefully). From the research I've done, wet hops don't bitter as well as dry, but they do provide a nice aroma and flavor in late additions. The main difference is more of a grassy "Earthy" type flavor that dry can not recreate. I am...

    Blonde ale & strawberrys

I've used raspberry extract before and it tasted like cough syrup. I assume strawberry would have a likely result.

Going all grain. What equipment do i need?

Circular or rectangular is a matter of personal preference. I used a circular beverage cooler and a stainless water heater connector hose in lieu of constructing a manifold. I get between 75-80% efficiency with this setup. The rectangular option will pretty much require you to construct a...

    Wet hop advice

I have to admit, I had to read your formulas a couple times, but it does make perfect sense. It seems that most of the information I had read recommends about a 5:1 ratio which would be consistent with your numbers. I appreciate it!!

    Wet hop advice

Hello all. I grew hops (cascade and centennial) for the first time this year. As a first season yield, I am pleasantly surprised to get a yield of somewhere in the 2lb range for 4 plants (2 of each). I am planning upon harvest time to brew a wet hopped IPA of which I already have a rough...

    Crazy sediment

I actually left it in the primary for longer than normal (about 3 weeks). I'm sure I pulled some trub into the keg, but that's not really out of the ordinary for me. It then sat at about 38 deg for about a week and a half before I carbed it. This has me puzzled. I could try the gelatin. The...

    Crazy sediment

I brewed a blonde ale and kegged as normal. After a week on CO2 I have a tremendous amount of sediment coming out of the keg (abnormal). I was hoping to bottle (counter pressure) some of the beer and enter it into a local contest soon. Any ideas as to why all of a sudden I'm having such junk...

What is the proper concentration of oxyclean for cleaning newly acquired kegs?
