New Nitrogen regulator with cracked glass on guage

I recently purchased the equipment for adding Nitro to my kegerator and when I connected the regulator to the tank I noticed that the glass protecting the needle on the left guage, the one with the "Fill Tank", has a crack in the glass. I'm not sure when or how this happened, but my concern...

    Skeeter Pee

I too have been debating kegging and carbing it up. Anyone try it both ways? I may use my carbonator cap and test it out.

Too Much Vanilla in my Porter

1/2 oz Vanilla, 1 oz Maple, 1 oz Chocolate, 32 oz cold brewed coffee, and 8 oz Lactose into the secondary. I'd been testing the extracts in my coffee for a couple weeks to determine how strong and what flavors they would bring but the vanilla was last min and never tested that one. I originally...

Too Much Vanilla in my Porter

I actually used 1oz of pure vanilla extract instead of whole beans. All the information I found suggested 2 oz of extract for 5 gallons of beer, so I went half to be safe. I also added Chocolate & Maple Extract along with some cold brewed coffee, so adding more coffee is out of the question for...

Too Much Vanilla in my Porter

I seem to have over vanilla'd my porter. Any suggestions for how to mellow it out? Here's what I was thinking my options are: 1. Brew another batch and blend the 2. 2. Buy some Oak Cubes and hope the oak flavor helps mellow it out 3. Time, but I've read vanilla is not a flavor that fades...

Adding Maple Extract to Bottling Bucket - How much?

Curious how this turned out and what amount you ended up using? I just recently bought this same extract along with the Peanut Butter & Chocolate and have been debating which ones to use in my porter. I plan to keg so I'll probably start low and ramp up to taste but I was going to go with 2...

    Flavoring, Extracts, or Emulsions?

Has anyone had any luck using these flavorings at bottling? I'm looking to make a Choc PB Stout and my last attempt I used PB2 with no luck and ended up with a PB extract. My online search has me now seeing all sorts of options. Extracts are alcohol based, flavorings are water and I'm clueless...

    1st Lager yeast pitch question

Tested tonight and I'm already close to my FG. Sitting at 1.012 right now and while having a hint of clove it's pretty smooth for the most part. Lagering should clean some of that up I hope. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Imperial Stout Russian Imperial Stout (2011 HBT Competition Category Winner)

Added some cold brewed coffee to this after brewing in April and moving into a keg. 64 oz later and I'm getting very little coffee flavor? I know cold brewed is smoother and less acidic but I'd expected more flavor. Am I just jumping the gun, will it show up in time? Cold brewed coffee recipe...

    Kegerator CO2 blend (75/25 of Nitrogen & Co2)

I just got back from the welding shop where the guy talked me into re-filling my 5lb tank with a mixture of 75/25 Nitrogen/Co2. I decided to start to google it and found that everyone is saying that is a terrible idea and my beer will go flat because I can't crank the psi up high enough to...

Zero Airlock Activity on 1st Lager

Ok, thanks for all the advice guys. Here's an update. Tuesday I went and bought 2 dry packets of dry lager yeast and pitched them both after re-hydrating. Wed morning I had bubbles in my airlock and a very distinct aroma in the fridge telling me the magic was happening. It may have been ok, but...
