Yea since the cap is covered with liquid I guess the idea is that water cant flow into the fermenter and can only flow out in bubbles similar to an airlock... Hope and pray haha

Was gonna do a brew today with my new KegCo 7 gallon widemouth fermenter however I realized my rubber stoppers for my airlock are not the right size. The fermenter comes with a "breathing cap" that you can cover with vodka (for sanitation) and allows air to escape just like an 3...
Im moving next wednesday. And leaving on a work trip tomorrow until sunday night. Making it difficult with the short notice i know but the decision to move was just thrown at me last week.
Moving next week and I dont have room to take my 10gal boil kettle or 8gal fermenting bucket. Anyone interested? $40 for both of em. Each have only been used twice.
Thanks for the input! I actually had someone else recommend putting the spice into some vodka overnight like a tea and then adding it. Also took a sample today to taste it and check the SG and after only 10 days I'm from 1.055 to 1.014... lots of progress! Def didn't have the spice i was hoping...
Took a reading and a taste - Currt SG is 1.014 so at about 5.5%abv and flavor isn't much spice... def spice in the aroma but i think ill add a teaspoon or two in some vodka for the night and put that in tomorrow
ABV was predicted around 5% however I added an extra 8oz of brown sugar to the kit to give it a kick. OG was 1.055 so I'm hoping for an abc about 6%. IBU is only 12, but again I changed some things so that could change as well. I like the idea of pulling some out though... and the vodka idea is...
Hey All... Put my first attempt at an extract pumpkin brew into primary about 10 days ago.
For the pumpkin flavor I added 40oz of pumpkin 45 min into the boil and another 40oz with 5min left. Then also at 5 min left I added 3 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice.
