My son wants to make cider

Bottled yesterday. The result, as many of you noted, was not cider. But a "fruity wine". After the initial fermentation, waited another 2 weeks and then took about 8 cups of blackberries that we picked and froze. Put them in a pot with about 3/4 cup sugar and mashed and brought the temp to...

My son wants to make cider

My son has a blackberry bush that produces tons of blackberries. They are a pretty tart variety. He has an idea of making a peach-based cider with blackberries added. I am a loooong time homebrewer, however I have never made cider. I have read through several threads here, and I get too much...

Thanks to the miracle of Dicyclomine... I am going to be brewing again!!! Whohoo!

I have not brewed since 2020. My wife was diagnosed as gluten intolerant... tried gluten free brewing...meh.. so i just gave it up. Long story-short, my wife continued to have some problems, gluten free diet definitely helped her, but still problems. Different doctor, who gave her Dicyclomine...

    Brew day is exhausting!

Over the years I did many things to reduce the work and time. First and foremost was going full volume BIAB. That cut a good 25% of time and at least 30% of the work. Then I bought a RV hose and filter and pour the water straight into the kettle. That saved hooking the whole house filter to a...

excess c02... fermentation restart.... why is this happening all of a sudden?

So brewed a beer last Sunday. I decided to do everything the same but one thing - use two packs of yeast. This time I read my numbers... everything is spot on. OG was right where it should be. Did everything exactly as the previous beers talked about in the thread... except I used two packs of...

Slingblade is a must. Not just for the story, but the music and cinematography is unmatched. Here is the it aint got no gas scene...

For those who have seen Slingblade... you will know the scene. I needed Carl today, so I didn't look so stupid. I figured I had enough right kind of grains to make a Black IPA, that time of year. And I did. So I weigh it all out, and start crushing the grains... 'what the hell is happening...

excess c02... fermentation restart.... why is this happening all of a sudden?

What is getting me is the taste and quality of the beer. It is perfect. 2 of the 5 beers is a beer I have made probably 50 times, my own "Honey Pale Ale". I know this beer inside and out. And it taste exactly as it should, and the "buzz" ABV test is also as expected. Just not sure what is...

excess c02... fermentation restart.... why is this happening all of a sudden?

What I did differently with these last 5 batches was 1) I started using an RV inline filter. It is charcoal. One thing possible is I was not properly adjusting the flow (didn't know to restrict it) since I did this straight into the kettle immediately before heating.... it is possible chlorine...
