Hi everyone,
My wife and I recently bought a hot sauce making kit from more beer. This is our first time ever doing it and I noticed that there's a murky-dusky like stuff on the bottom.
I'm posting some pictures. If someone whose familiar could take a look and let me know if this is...
Totally makes sense, it still hasn't dropped in gravity at all, but there's a thick Krausen on top so i know the little yeasties must be happy now!
Thanks so much to everyone for the info. Next time I'll do a 2L starter for sure and just pitch the whole thing. I'll also see if i can ferment it...
Thanks for the info, I'm more than happy to give it another day or two. I did aerate the beer. Would it be a good idea to purchase and add another packet of yeast? I can add that and then shake the fermenter to try to aerate a bit more and mix everything.
Thanks for the help! I did do a warm...
Hi All,
Hoping this is more of a simple question; but I generally brew with ale yeast not lager yeast. This year for my Oktoberfest instead of using a kolsch yeast I used a German lager yeast.
I chose WLP830, made a 1.5L Starter and let it go. It fermented quite well in the starter and i put...
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check it.out.
I'm coming from the beer brewing world and have always liked the flavor of Kombucha. I can see the appeal doing a keg size portion.
So should I do a secondary fermentation? Rack everything out of the original except a cup of liquid and the scoby?
Should I start over and make a new scoby?
Hi Everyone,
I recently made my own mother in a 2L jar and decided that i wanted to brew more so i upgraded to a 1 gallon jar. When i did this and dropped the mother i had into it, it floated for the first day then just disappeared. Now i currently have what looks like a new mother forming in...
This is interesting. I've done starters before but have never seen a yeast take off like this so quickly before. I'm only 10 hrs in and there appears to be a ton of yeast at the bottom, so much so that it's forming yeast rafts already.
This is wlp067 which contains diastaticus. I was wondering...
I've had small little blotches of a black mold in mine. I think it's because I use my fermentation chamber as a kegerator as well.
Cleaned out like a charm though, used an all purpose cleaner then left the door open for a week.
Only ever had 1 batch that turned out not so good out of 20ish batches. This one just fermented a little to warm, thankfully it was a blonde so I waited 6 months to drink. Ended up being just, 'fine'
