Thanks for the note. Didn't think about sanitizing it also. Would you suggest also removing the dip tube and cleaning/sanitizing it before first use? I was thinking that the heat from the boil would take care of the sanitization for me.
Good to hear that. And yes, I have gone the partial mash route before. Not sure how it will work now that I won't have other burners handy. I used to have two pots going at the same time ...
Got a 10 gallon Boilermaker with 3-piece valve and Top Tier burner. I've been reading about whirlpooling and siphoning instead of draining the wort, which makes me think that the dip tube and valve may not end up being used ... still debating on that.
I'm hoping my next upgrade will be temp...
Hi guys,
I finally made my first upgrade and am going full boil with a 10 gallon Blichmann Boilermaker and Top Tier Burner :rockin:
My question is, Blichmann suggests removing and cleaning the three piece valve before using it, to remove any excess oil, etc. I would love to hear your...
Hi everyone,
I didn't realize it was a "requisite" for an introduction thread :D
I consider myself a mid-level newb now that I finally upgraded to a full boil (did partial boils on my gas stove top all last year). Still doing extract batches and still doing some NB/More Beer kits to...
Ok, new[ b ] question for you guys. When I plug this recipe into hopcalculus, it says it's a partial mash recipe, yet all the directions posted say to just steep the grains. Should I treat this as partial mash or just go with the instructions that have been provided in this thread? Thanks in...
Cheers! What type of beer? My Furious Pro Series Kit from NB is in its 4th week in bottles and tastes amazing. I'm afraid to let it age too long ...
Would IPAs benefit from 3-4 months bottle conditioning also?
I would like to know how this turned out also. Per Revvy's suggestions, I'm leaving the primary alone for at least 3-4 weeks and skipping secondary (even though I may dry hop in there).
Also, Rob - clear out your PMs so I can get in touch!
Hi guys. I'm a noob (as you might be able to tell) and have a question. When someone says it's a 3 gallon batch, do they mean starting with 3 gallons in the boil and making the rest up in water added to the primary fermenter? As opposed to a full boil (6.5 gallons) and no water added to...
