I have what I think would be an interesting question, from most of my research about flavouring wine they all talk about oaking either using chips, barrels, shavings etc. Has any one thought of using Maple chips as a flavouring or even a fruit tree chips like apple wood or even mesquite? Cider filtration system

I have made that exact same system and found that if you start off with the 1 - 2 micron filter it will clog up really quickly, so what I have done was start with a 30 micron filter, then step down to a 5 then to a 1, but even after the 1 micorn filter it was still a bit cloudy so I use a wine...

Apple Press Conditioning - How to?

I agree with the powder coat idea but it could get a little pricey, I have the same style of press and have the same bit of rust in the pan, what I do is give it a good cleaning just before I use it and after wipe it with some vegetable oil just like a cast iron frying pan.

    Quick back sweetening question

I've used gelatin a few times and it works pretty fast after adding it is takes about 3-5 days to clear then all you have to do is rack to your keg leaving the sediment and carb , I usually carb with 30 psi for 3 days then turn it back to about 12 psi if you want the carb it quickly within about...

    smallest keg you can buy

That does sound better and more economical then buying a mini keg. Plus I could bring it camping. Thanks I have to check out my LHBS to see if they carry it.

    smallest keg you can buy

I want to do some experimenting with some of my ciders and only want to do small batches but I want to force carbonate them so I wondering what is the smallest keg I could buy, I’m already setup for a ball lock style corny keg.
