Gotcha, I was under the impression that the vessel itself was conditioned some how. Great, now I won't worry about my face or balls getting splintered with keg shrapnel anymore.
I had heard of kegs exploding but I guess now that I think about it, it's only been when they were pressurized...
I inherited my kegging system from a friends some years back and was wondering, how long do they stay safe and is it just me or is any one else afraid of a blow out when force carbonating?

I had a vial in my kegerator and it had rolled to the back where the coil was. Even though the temp is set at about 41 the area it rolled to was cool enough to freeze.
Mine was slow to start without a starter but still did the job. Starter might be a safer bet though
The starting gravity was 1.050 and the reading after fermentation stopped was 1.030, soo, ends up being about 2.9% or so.
Does that change anything?
